Starts: 09/02/2010
Intel Atom Z520 Processor, Windows XP® Home, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, 11.6" HD LED Screen, Integrated Graphics, 7 Hour Battery+ Bluetooth, 3G embedded, LU.S790B.047
Not everyone's cup 'o tea perhaps?! varients of this model have been posted in the recent past but I think this is good value and the cheapest around to include FREE next day delivery. Yes there's 'issues' on some forums re the 1.33Ghz processor but having owned one a little while ago I can happily say they are VERY tweakable and do chug along quite nicely thank you very much, more than good enough for basic computing needs - browsing, video & your above basic tasks and I think here with the built in 3G & 7 hour battery, it's now very portable.
The clinchers (for me) are the 7 hour battery life, 11.6" 1366x768 HD display ('tis nice!) & the 3G inclusion (just pop in you dongle sim and away you go) - it's a decent little deal I thought?

Crystal HD cards can be bought on ebay for £20-£30, but then again you might as well pay £300 and get the HP mini 311c with ION graphics at that price

What's the point of a high res screen when it can't play high res video or games though?

The free 1GB data only lasts for 30days, but then doesn't say which network it runs on and vouchers have a 90day limit...... BT normally use the Voda network but they don't give any limit on their PAYG mobile internet - so I'd be interested to know who they use in this deal.

What I wasn't expecting was how good the sound is - I have moved a collection of high quality music files onto this as my archos 5 is going in for repair. I can only say the sound is phenomenal - if you want to listen to music/tv on your netbook you will not be disappointed I promise.
The cpu can be overclocked pretty easily using setfsb (if you like to mess about in this way).
I have been watching video encoded at high level 3500kps using vlc no problem. I've tried 1080p home video - a bit stuttery but watchable. The only thing I have not been able to get going is downloaded programmes on bbc iplayer. For some reason it pushes up cpu usage to 90% on mine. Not sure if this is because on xp or what. Appears others have been able to get this working fine for sd material.
3g works really well using 3 network, its great not having to worry about dongle. Just stick a sim in and you are away.
Overall very happy so far! It is a netbook so your are always going to be pushing its limitiations with graphics. Don't get this if you are a gamer obviously. But if you mainly use for office/internet/music then you cannot go wrong at this price.

Make sure the intel drivers are bang up to date and see if you can find 10.1 Adobe flash beta, did this one mine and was amazed how the quality of even bbc hd stuff worked without a glitch on iplayer.

Yup - I was doing a like-4-like cheaper quote but if you don't have mobile internet and want to try it, for under £5 with no tie in is a great deal!!
