do u know wether this is nationwide deal/discount and which store did u get yours from. cheers

Anyone know what diameter of tree/wood they will lopp?
#3
I got this from the large Stockport store. I can't say if it's nationwide so would advise ringing before making a trip.

Edit
From postings below it appears to be on sale also in Chester and Merthyr so probably nationwide but not necessarily in every store.

They were in my B&Q on tuesday in the clearnace section but with no prices on and no SEL either.

says 100mm on the box for cutting 'girth'
#5
I don't need one but I'm damned if I'll let that stop me. Looks awesome.

OP could you help me out.

I phoned up my local and they were pricing it up as £99.

Can you tell me the barcode number of your purchased item please, that should help identify if it is old stock and if there is any hiding about, desperate to get one for my dads b'day tomorrow...

Why isn't this red hot op, it's a great bargain? Just bought one in Merthyr. Heat added
#15
Thanks OP - Eventually, after loads of ringing about I grabbed one from Coventry Warehoue. It appears that these are not ranged in the Supacentres, I just rang around and then travelled a bit to get it, getting stuck on the m69 on the way back in static for 30mins, grrr.

Worth it though, my dad will be well chuffed tomorrow.

Oh and Cov had 6 left when I left earlier today.

None in LIverpool ie Edge lane, Speke or Aintree, well that is according to the staff on the phone:roll:
i was actually told on Thursday night that they had 5 in stock at Edge lane and i asked the assistant to double check it was this model. so went to Edge lane early Friday morning and lo and behold only had the £99 model.:x What a waste of time and effort and also lost 2 hours kip in the process:x

Thank You just picked one up :)
Absoulute bargain all out stock in Swansea stores but got one from Methyr about 11 left @ 12 .30 this afternoon.

Just picked one up from the big B&Q at Watford (the one near mothercare). They only had 3 left hidden away and boxes were knackered and covered in dust. However the box was still sealed and the goods inside in pristine condition. So there are still 2 left as of 4pm today.

Just tried mine in the garden with a couple of errant overhanging branches. It is a very impressive tool indeed.

By the way, I am assuming that if branches from my neighbour's tree hangs over the fence into my garden, it is ok for me to lop off these overhanging branches - or do I need to ask his permission next time because it is his tree?

1.7 Ah Ni-cad Battery, show it any more than a lolly stick and it will probably kill it in about 2 minutes, being ni-cad you can't top it up when it gets low, and an 8 hour charger to boot.

Still cheap thou.

But post above may prove me wrong:whistling:.

You can legally lop off overhanging branches but you need to give them back to your neighbour if not its seen as theft lol

Bargain for £40, only thing puts me off is 8 hours charging time (Recommended on B&D site)

Megazoid you are correct.

Thats not entirely fair is it ?? (though i agree with your point about the 8hr charger)
My drill has a 1.7ah battery and it lasts about an hour drilling/screwing - these are really for light cutting not taking down a forest.
If you use it for what its intended Im sure it would be fine.

It is quite in order for you to lop off any overhanging branches etc, without giving notice or seeking permission (although it would be polite to tell him first). Such overhangings are trespassing on your land and you are entitled to remove them. But you must give back to the neighbour whatever you cut off (and any fruit etc, including windfalls). If you don't get on, just chuck it over the fence! And if the tree/foliage is causing a real problem (height, density etc) and you cannot lop it, it may be possible to force your neighbour to do so - consult your local council.

Still some of these in stock at B&Q Sheffield Queens Road store... Can be reserved over phone for pick-up. :)

EDIT: Rep added... Cheers to OP!

Unless there is a tree preservation order, I believe then the rules are different.

You proved my point right there, A drill will not put anywhere near the same amount of strain on a battery that this will, and you only get about an hour.

from the Black & Decker website
Approximately 150 x 3.5cm cuts per charge to complete the task

2 left at Gloucester B & Q when I went.
Price on the shelf was marked up at £73, but a price check (followed by a purchase) confirmed they are currently £40 there too.
