Just bought this chainsaw with an extra free battery and some oil after being quoted £85 to trim a small tree. Done it myself in about 90 mins with this chainsaw....worked like a dream. Reviews look good and with the extra battery...I think this deal is excellent. Please give me your thoughts. Make sure you add the chainsaw and its battery to your basket before going through to checkout

I would be very sceptical of buying a battery chainsaw. Nothing worse than being up a tree or a way from base to find your battery is flat. Screwfix were doing a 35cm Petrol chainsaw for £99.99 which to me would be more useful if I was looking to get one, which I'm not as I already have one.

The deal seems good, however it get's a poor review at which. Here's a summary.

"This cordless chainsaw with a rechargeable battery was light but disappointing.

It was very slow on the smaller logs and, because of the short cutting bar, couldn't manage logs wider than 15cm.

However, it was well balanced and manoeuvrable for pruning.

It didn't have an automatic oiler - you have to prime it manually from a reservoir, which was fiddly to top up, and chain oil wasn't provided as it was with the other saws.

Adjusting the chain tension involved an Allen key (provided).

It takes eight hours to recharge the battery and in our tests it cut for just over six minutes.

Pros: Well balanced and manoeuvrable

Cons: Can't cut logs wider than 15cm, slow to cut, short cutting time"

It got a total score of 45%

Not voted by the way.

Picked this up for less than £40 at Argos a month ago (with a single battery).

You shouldn't be up a tree with a chainsaw unless you really know what you are doing, and if you know what you are doing then you wouldn't buy one of these.

A much better alternative to a chainsaw, for many jobs, is a sabre saw. Nearly as quick and far less risk, so far less effort.

I voted hot before I saw that the RRP is complete and utter pish. How do Amazon or any other retailer get away with this? Bid up tv were pulled up over this years ago, it's time Amazon had a kick up the jacksy about this too.
