Dad got one for christmas, and tbh, its not very good. The head is quite large which is a problem in tight spots, and there is a fair bit of play in the mechanism. Id say it was fine for assembling furniture etc, but not a mechanics tool.

An adjustable spanner will damage the nut if not set correctly. Why not just buy a set of good spanners, they will last a lifetime. As for this, anything Black & Decker is rubbish that is made in China.

Also available from Black&Decker is the automatic fly opener you need never use your fingers to undo the zip again. Takes 2 AA batteries not included.

What does that mean? Most stuff is made in China and that includes real and fakes...

They're pointless rubbish.

If you must use an adjustable try this.
It's a genuinely superior adjustable - for professional use too:

Good tools are not made in China. Only the cheaper makes are. Buy a good set of "King Dicks"

Now there's a sweeping statement :whistling:

Sweeping yes, but mostly accurate.

The emphasis in China is price not quality. The company I work for uses Chinese manufacturers and even when given an exact spec they always do something cheaper. They don't understand the concept of quality it is all about cost. The thing is they are trying to be helpful when they find a cheaper source for raw materials but the end result is a poor quality product.

Companies like Black & Decker I hope will carefully manage the Chinese manufacturers to make sure they do as they are asked but you never know. Many once well respected names such as Stanley tools have long since turned into nothing more than importers of sub standard cheap Chinese goods without any quality control.

None of this changes the point though that this is such a pointless gadget. It is a solution looking for a problem that doesn't exist. Trouble is your average man will go buy it because it is battery powered.

I agree with you, quite a few of the "quality" tool makers get their good in from China, Snap On being one.

But like you say it's hard to resist anything that's battery operated

Ah, idiocy and lunacy are in ascent - it's fun time. Since the Chinese are not here to offer a reply, perhaps some voice will suffice. There are 5 minds/mental-dimensions, namely the subjective, objective, projective, spiritual and true human - now you really know what the 5th dimension really, really means beyond songs or pop bands, etc. That means that a true blue human needs his spiritual dimension realised - realised and not merely emotionalised, materialised nor intellectualised. If this information is true, which it is but you won't find it in your text books, perfect quality pub-speak yakity-yaks, Western "academia" and technological powerhouses and similar nonsense fantasised through the stupidity and dumbness lurking within the 3 lowest human minds.

Only the stupid, oka idiocy and the dumb, oka lunacy, 'finks that by talking through the material, all is known and that nothing is beyond reach. To illustrate what is meant by impossible, you cannot fly like a bird does, au natural. Still but, butting …? You can't teach a chimp arithmetic, let alone mathematics, but to be convinced through one's emotional, material and intellectual selves, we need one more "impossible", namely that there is no way for a person born blind to perceive the concept of colours. Got it? You can't "own" The Chinese through using singularities much like the organised Anglo-Saxon mass media have tried to "own" Iran, say, by pointing at riots, freedom, etc. You can't go to 10 Downing Street and start a riot - no you cannot. You'll be locked up asap. "But.. but .. human rights, animal rights, peace, evil….." Yes dearies, we too know where those emanate from … sans sunlight.

The human realm is a relative dimension where people claw desperately at the meaning to their existence through ownership [issues]. You cannot own the Chinese by talking like a single-minded, horse-blinkered, idiotic-lunatic. You cannot own The Earth by talking about Global Warming - you know how big a footie stadium is, how about a supertanker, a mountain, a country, an ocean or perhaps The Earth? You do because you have grasped the concept of "zero" like a "multi-billionaire? Then the universe revolves around you because you have single-mindedly owned everything that your deluded subjective, objective and projective minds are suggesting to you. You are then, however, owned by your lowest minds/selves.

For enduring thus far, the subjective is the "left" [sympathetic nervous system], oka one's immediate past, or "Yin", and the objective-projective is the "right" SNS, oka one's immediate future, or "Yang", and that is all one needs to know because that is all the minds could understand and comprehend, oka the limits to one's mental [ownership] capacity. As for realising the fuller picture, that needs the present, oka the "centre" [parasympathetic nervous system]. The left "combusts" through hydrogen [though The Moon is abundant in oxygen], the right "combusts" through oxygen [though the Sun has abundance of hydrogen] and the centre combusts through nitrogen. As to solving/resolving this seemingly worthless puzzle, there isn't even a single chance, oka an impossibility, that the emotional, physical and intellectual minds could realised its solution. When it comes to resolving problems/reality, onwership is not the point, flow is. Try not to let pub-talk dominate the selves, otherwise, all that will flow is pub droppings.
