7.2v VPX lithium battrery

Black & Decker saw cuts almost anything, anywhere, anytime. The cut saw is powered by a single 7.2 volt VPX lithium battery. You can take the VPX1301X outside to make short work of pruning, or trimming trees down to a more manageable size.
Traditional saws can be bulky and noisy and tend to be tiring and inaccurate. The Black & Decker VPX1301X combines power and a compact design in a lightweight cordless tool. Truly a grab-and-go item, the cut saw is ideal for quick cuts into baseboard, 1-inch pine, PVC, and more

I take it that you don't have any experience of Li-Ion tools then?

Heat added but delivery now 2 to 4 weeks - still worth an order though
#8
So is this basically a cordless jigsaw?

Probably worth the price if you plan to use it for non-construction jobs

Might run on and on but surely it will be just as gutless as any other 7.2v tools?

Powered jigsaws can make hard work of cuts so would hate to think how mundane using this would be.

Good price but the range has been discontinued... still hot

Can you put the blade in either way round in the picture you would be cutting towards yourself with a normal jigsaw you cut away from yourself:whistling:

Please disregard I see the footplates V means you do cut towards yourself

i need to take a load of panels down from the loft and this would be perfect. but the 2-4weeks time is silly!

No, a mini cordless reciprocating saw.

I'm going to stick with jigsaw and extension lead, this doesn't look as good as I first thought.

Looks a great concept, but reading the reviews, nobody has a good word to say about it.
Plus its 80% off on the US amazon website, at $22, so I guess they just want rid of this as its mentioned as being end of line.

Doesn't work like that I'm afraid. Voltage is fairly irrelevant in terms of battery life. It is the Amp Hour capacity of the battery that will make the most difference.

Think of the voltage as the horsepower of a car and the amp hour capacity of the battery the fuel tank.

That said power is just voltage multiplied by current, so you can get low voltage tools that are very powerful.

What a complete tool !

Also think about what type of blade it takes, if it takes regular jigsaw blades then fine however you may be stuck if they are special B&D blades!
