Looks like they've price matched Homebase

Bought this last week for £45, but already set up so can't rebox and send back :| As they no longer refund the difference if you ask.

But this is so close in price to some of the others now and it has the added benefit of the step, which just gives you that next level of support and rigidity too.

I literally can't fault this. Working between this and the more basic step-less version, you can really see the difference.

Really annoys me that this is a prime only deal.

They'll refund the difference if you ask several times, pointing out that you know their policy, you've only just received the itm, it is quite a big percentage difference and it doesn't make sense for either party to go to the trouble and expense of re-ordering and returning (which you could do if you really wanted to - simply return the re-ordered one in lieu of the first one) - they've always relented for me under these circumstances. HTH.

As for it being a Prime Only deal, if only Prime were available to every Amazon customer, oh, wait, it is, and it's only how much? £1.60 or so a week! Gosh, a company treating its most loyal customers well, whatever next! With a bit of luck this might catch on with energy companies, telecoms companies, banks, insurers etc., etc., bit don't hold your breath waiting for it :)

I would check out the reviews before purchasing this. They're not favourable.

They wouldn't for me and the difference was about 25%...
They were adamant that they wanted me to return the now 'used' product for a full refund, postage at their expense, for me to then order again at the cheaper price, again, postage at their expense!
Crazy policy!

Crazy policy!

Recently published stats implied that of every $2 spent in the US, just under $1 of that is spent on Amazon.com

Sounds like they can pretty much do whatever the heck they please!

Mine, albeit used for 2 days now (quite ruggedly) has been a workhorse. Its flimsy when it goes up... But when it clicks into place - its rock solid. Could do with having more of the clip in holders though - although it comes with 4 which is good for 90% of the jobs I do.

if you don't return for the price difference then it proves the effectiveness of their new policy.
you should order a new one then return the new one as the old one, u don't even have to open the parcel.

It may be only £1.60 or so a week but I don't buy stuff from Amazon every week therefore I can't justify the monthly/annual cost.

I had a month free trial of prime. Ordered 3 things even when trying to think of stuff to advantage of free delivery. I found the movie, tv and music choice disappointing. Could not justify £80 a year for that

Having looked around for one for ages, I can assure you they dont ever go cheap.

Because they're so cumbersome its just never viable either. I agree about sturdiness, but with the little step, you put a bit of weight behind it (which is a naturally position to saw/work/whatever) and its not going anywhere :)

I bought one of these in a previous sale and was disappointed with quality. You do get what you pay for. The quality is a long way off what it used be in the 80's. And they're a real pain to assemble hammering those silly pins into the orange handles. If I was buying again I'd gladly pay more and consider a Bosch or Draper Expert.

This made me laugh - as those little pins *WERE* 100% a complete expletive to get in!

What were your quality issues (so I know what to look for).

The whole look and feel was one big quality issue! The instructions supplied were an absolute joke, it was like six hard to read pictures with no text. What! What! Look for YouTube videos and then just have to work it out yourself. The metal work is a bit on the thin side making it not as heavy as expected. And those two rough bits of wood for the top didn't exactly scream quality.

Yes, the worst bit is those pins! ******* ******* ********* :)

Had one for a while. Can't remember problems with assembly. Is solid in use. Hard to beat for the price.
