this laptop appears to have many reviews where the user highlights issues with the device within the first few days although users also highlight that when it works, it is meant to be a good gaming laptop. Good price.

There's a few different variants, I think the issues seem to be mainly with the AMD FX8800P, this one uses the new i7. I couldn't find it anywhere cheaper, PC World have it at £999.00

Ah okay. Good to know, I was looking at this laptop the other day on amazon but the reviews put me off https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lenovo-Notebook-i7-6700HQ-External-Graphics/dp/B015Q297M8?th=1

I didn't realise amazon didn't separate the reviews based on the chip inside. I haven't seen this laptop cheaper that the price you've stated.

Isnt the 849 the discounted price? Not a further discount?

I've got this laptop but with 1TB HDD. It is a bit... odd. Blue screens out of sleep sometimes, and can't find what the cause is. Likely something to do with the graphics drivers. Runs games fantastically however.

The i7 reviews aren't great on there either.

Good point! 8)Gonna pull the trigger now X)

did you pull the trigger?

Before you all pull the trigger just check the GTX 960 out please. 700 quid on that card is a lot of dough for 2 year old card. Pascal blows it out of the water and then buries what's left

For me it's all about price though. 700 is pretty much going to be my absolute limit and this seems as good as I'm going to get for that price...

Going for it, thinking that worst case a better deal comes up I'll cancel/return the order asap.

Is there space in this for a hdd as well as the ssd? And is it easy to access?

According to Amazon Q&A it's an M2 SSD pre installed so get a cheap 1TB HDD for game installs and it should be easy enough to install.

Just watch your fingers on the bottom lid when removing it as it's sheet metal so might take off some skin!
Edit: not sure now, a review states "Great laptop overall, except Lenovo didn't supply the SATA cable/socket inside for second HDD! I contacted Lenovo who called it a "replacement part", yet it isn't replacing anything since they never fitted it in the first place lol! And they couldn't source the part. "

The laptop video card to watch out for is the Nvidia 1050 Ti. It's not out yet but give it a few months and it will be everywhere. It's Pascal for poor folks but still beats out the old 970m. It's what I'm hanging on for.

The only problem is going to be by the time I want to upgrade, Article 50 will have been triggered and the £ will be plumbing new depths (expect the £ & the $US to hit parity) and all laptops are going to be significantly more expensive . Thanks a bunch Nige!

Well spotted OP and thanks,

Been watching price of this for a few days and this is the lowest in the UK I have seen so gone for it.

From what I have read this offers best value/spec for £££

Did anyone go for the 3 year warranty at £91 was tempted but wondered if cheaper else where i.e customer covers delivery and pick up cost via lenovo £71

Whilst this will work well with a USB 3.0 external drive perhaps the Seagate 2Tb (argos deal) from what I have read it read write speeds are better if its installed internally and for that we need the link cable that we will need the 2.5" SATA link cable that we need to identify a source for.

See they have put it back up to £849 now and added £10 to warranty !! makes you feel beter if you bought one!

I agree. The 860M/960M are NOT a downclocked GTX960 but a re-branded 750Ti. They aren't powerful enough for 1080p/60fps in modern games at the lowest settings. Wait for the GTX1050Ti/RX460 based laptops to come out as they will be far better for about £100 more.
#33
Thanks OP ordered first thing this morning
#34
price is £849 is it correct?
#35
I paid £600 for a laptop with this graphics card but a 17 inch that I got from America last year it's certainly capable of running most games at a great frame rate and this is a pretty good price for the UK

This is GTX950 rather than the 960, not worth it imo

May I ask how well this might run a game like Overwatch? :) My desktop can do high/medium at 60fps. I'm looking for something better than my PC. I have a GTX 750, with otherwise average parts. Thank you for any help!
