Black Sabbath were voted the 2nd greatest rock band of all time behind Led Zeppelin in Rolling Stone magazine, which btw is nothing to do with the band the Rolling Stones, who I presume you have at least heard of :-P

What the offer fails to mention is the other two must own Sabbath albums arent that much more expensive either.

Master of Reality £4.42
Sabotage £3.86

Don't be ashamed - they really weren't all that good and are only given any regard now because of his recent "comeback" as a reality TV has-been.

Generic pap for the most part. But at £2.99 a disc you can find that out for yourself.

£2.99 if you like the music is a reasonably good deal. However, for me they are the second most overrated band of all time...just behind Led Zep !!

Never been a massive Stone Roses fan, but there ok... the rest are all good too...

but to be honest you cannot compare the styles at all, completely different to compare these bands to Heavy Metal bands.....

Its like comparing Kanye West to flippin Boyzone...2 different styles completely

btw Red Devil...I respect the fact you have put this as your opinion rather than fact unlike previous poster

That might be one of the most ridiculous things anyone has ever posted on here. They are given all the regard they get because they invented an entire genre of music. The reality show thing is a joke and all metal fans think so. The truth is that the only reason sheltered Joe Public, who's musical exposure is what the mainstream radio feeds him, knows who Ozzy is is because of the TV show.

Black Sabbath's music can hardly be called generic, given that it was the first of it's kind. That doesn't even make sense.

TBH I prefer Sabbath with RJD, Heaven and Hell must be their best ever album?. And I did see him on the last tour (under the name Heaven & Hell ) and they were surprisingly good although a smaller venue would have been better.

Another ridiculous thing to say, although no where near as bad as the first guy. The Beatles you can have. I personally hate them but they revolutionised rock music, just as Sabbath did later on in a different way. The rest of those barely made an impact. Maybe with the exception of The Clash. Everything those others did others were already doing and they just did it slightly differently/better. It's like saying Arctic Monkeys are up there with The Beatles because they're one of the most popular examples of the current music scene. Of course they're not, they're doing what everyone else is doing and are just more popular.

The Beatles changed what was being done completely. And so did Sabbath. Whether or not you like them is here nor there. Calling them underrated is incredibly naive.

Agreed. He's always been a better singer than Ozzy, but now more so than ever. Ronnie is still note perfect at 65 years old, Ozzy isn't (understatement of the year).

Thats a good point, as good as those bands all were, I have to agree that only The Beatles changed things, the rest were not re-inventing the wheel at all.....

This might be true if weren't for the fact that Sabbath were regarded as one of the greatest rock bands of all time years before that show came out. :whistling:

Everyone has bands that they don't like even though they are criticially acclaimed, but that's no reason to go making out that they suck. Even if you can't stand Sabbath simple facts are they are hugely important and influential to just about every genre of music that uses distorted guitars.

The Writ, Spiral architect and never say die are my favs.
Ronnie james dio is not as good as Ozzy, I never like any of Sabbaths music when RJD was in the band!

I walked into a bar in trendy Chorlton, Manchester on Friday. The auto-jukebox was on at low volume before the DJ came on (who was shortly to be playing latin jazz).

The a-j was playing a Sabbath track. I forget which one at this moment. Could have been Paranoid.
The a-j decided to follow it with The Cheeky Girls! One of the weirdest segues I've ever heard in my life.
