Like a skidmark through history the Edmund Blackadders left an indelible dirty stain on every era they passed through. No one knows where the notorious Blackadder family originated from - some say the shallow end of the gene pool others just nod and point to the cess-pit behind the pig-sheds.

"A man may fight for many things: his country, his principles, his friends, the glistening tear on the cheek of a golden child. But personally, I'd mudwrestle my own mother for a ton of cash, an amusing clock and a stack of French porn."

Whichever version, the comedy is top notch!

As ever with this item being posted, avoid it, it looks worse than vhs. Get the other version, this is the worst transfer on a dvd i have ever seen.

Thanks for the info about the remastered edition but I think I'll go for this version. I went for the remastered Fawlty Towers and the picture is rubbish in my opinion, no better than the previous version. The extras were ok though.

The picture on this is awful, really awful. I returned mine as faulty. It's like watching the TV through a screen mesh or piece of netting.

Are you sure the fault was not with your player etc - I have this version and dont remember it being pour quality etc. :?

Is it as cunning as a fox what used to be Professor of Cunning at Oxford University but has moved on and is now working for the U.N. at the High Commission of International Cunning Planning?

Odd that the Ultimate Edition seems to have increased in price everywhere. I remember getting mine from the BBC Shop for £27. Even though it's now twice the price of this older edition I think I would still recommend it. Better PQ and a lot more extra's just sell's it in my book.

Simply not true, I've compared both releases of Fawlty Towers sifde by side using an Arcam DV29 player, and the latest remaster is much sharper, with far more picture detail than the earlier releases. Sound quality is greatly improved too - if the latest Blackadder Ultimate Edition went through the same remastering process then it will be a significant improvement on the original.

Thanks for that - I was a little worried - waiting for it to drop a little more in price before I double-dip.
