Description

The BlackBerry Charging Pod may be the most convenient way to charge your BlackBerry device. Just place it in the Pod in a convenient location, and connect your BlackBerry smartphone charger to the USB port on the back. Your device will be operational even as it charges. You'll have full access to the keyboard and speakerphone capability - you can make calls, read and send email, even use the multimedia player.

Plug a USB cable into the port on your device, and you can sync up your data with your PC, even while the device charges. And the chrome design beautifully complements the sleek lines of your BlackBerry smartphone. Power up with style and convenience.

Gonna check compatibility with 8900 and 9700 before buying but fingers crossed they are the same

Edited By: Klansimpson on Sep 21, 2010 12:06: Been corrected re contacts on bottom of phone

I didnt read that in the same way Klansimpson. I read it that you plug the charger in to the dock so you can charge the Blackberry whilst its sitting in the dock.

If you want to sync data you will then need to use the USB cable in the side of the phone.

I think you actually plug the charger into the dock. So you can keep it on your desk and just pop your phone in while your sat there to keep it topped up surely?

So basically... its a stand that you can put your device on THEN you still have to use normal charge lead in side of Blackberry... Personally not gonna vote that hot (sorry fella) but wont vote COLD either as nature of HUKD is to find BETTER prices for stuff not COLD vote something you wont be buying
Seems the same as an Iphone dock i have where your existing power lead goes into the back of the dock to charge, the benefit with this one is that you can still plug a usb cable into the connector on your phone to sync it at the same time, i can't do that with mine its one or the other.
For the price as well i gotta go hot.

Will this work with any blackberry phone?
#6
I had one of these for a BlackBerry 8100 Pearl and it worked great - you just drop the phone in to it to charge.

No - you've got it wrong - see the picture, there are 2 metal contacts which match up to 2 equivalents on the back of the phone. So much easier to pop your phone into this when on your desk, or overnight to charge, than plugging the cable direct into the phone. That is also a weak spot on these phones and over use can make them fail. Using one of these can therefore mean you can still continue to use a phone with the above problem.

Hot deal - if anyone knows where I can get one for this price compatible with my 8310 I'd be grateful.

will it work on 8520 curve

ok guys thanks for the update, I was under the impression (ironically from a RIM trained BES Administrator) that the pins at the bottom of my 8900 were for show, I thought they were for charging but was 'corrected' seems I was right, which has been confirmed by you guys, ignore my original post, infact gonna update it now

Seems price is the 8220 is an old model different stands are being sold at play for different models (8900 is £9.99), oh well will wait for it to come down lol

I have one of these for the Bold 9700 and its brilliant. You just plug the usual charger into the back of the pod and the phone sits in it upright whilst charging. You can see at a glance if you've missed a call or email etc as it lights up and stays there till you check it. Otherwise it just shows the clock whilst charging. Really smart little cradle and better than your phone lying about flat getting marked.

Good price. Shame I don't own a Blackberry.
#13
Great price - heat added.

Slightly off topic but does anyone know a desire equivalent for the same kind of price?
#14
The official Blackberry cradle is well classy, chromed and heavy, with a discreet white LED showing when it's powered up. There's nothing so cool for the Desire AFAIK. I use this...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003H67JXK/ref=oss_product

but it's not as cool or as cheap.
#15
So, does this one fit 9700?

TIA.
#16
^^ Okay, disregard - just checked sizes.
#17
Thanks - just ordered one!

I own an 8220 and it is the Blackberry Flip phone for those that don't know. From the picture I cannot see how the contacts work with it at all, as the only input for power or usb is a propriety port on the side of the device. Since the form factor of the 8220 is a lot different to other Blackberry phones, i'd be reluctant to drop money on this until it is 100% confirmed that it will work on other units. That said, 2.99 isn't such a big kick in the teeth if it doesn't work.

Ok - see the link to the Blackberry web site 8220 page with 360 degree rotating pic of the phone...
Rotate the picture round so you can see the back - down towards the bottom of the phone, you can see the metal contacts, very flat and flush, so you may not have paid them much attention before.

Also, they list the charging pod as an accessory for the 8220 (although not currently available there).
