Blackberry Playbook 64GB Refurbished Grade A £39.99 - Simply Games

£39.99 @ Simply Games
Seems an excellent price for a tablet, especially of this size in storage! Ah_heng found a rather good leather case as well, just over £3! - http://www.hotukdeals.com/visit?hukdm=1650&d=http%3A%2F… Read More

These comparable to ipad? Galaxy?

do you think you would get something comparable to an ipad for £40?

what i will say is this, there will be quite a few who post derogatory comments about these. but i think, for the money, they are an excellent tablet. you can sideload a large amount of apk apps (some dont work). the screen is excellent. they have a large capacity hdd.
on mine, i have got a book reader app with more books than i will ever get around to reading, i have nes, snes and mega drive emulators with 1000's of games, i have a large library of music, i have plex so i can use wifi to connect to and watch anything from my home network when away from home, and i also have a raft of apk apps. the tablet feels sturdy and is quick navigating through the menus. i don't use it very often, mainly when away from home with work or plane journeys etc, but its been well worth the £100 i originally spent on it some time ago

Ok so the camera has packed up, internet browsing is slow as buggery, the battery charge is **** and I dropped it in the bathroom and severely scratched the screen whilst having a tom tank but the speakers are great, 64gb of storage and it is easy to use...
I would say its worth 40 quid of anyone's money.

Brilliant for watching movies on; excellent speakers and picture quality is brilliant, but not many apps. Solid, so good for the kids to play with. Make sure you get the rapid charger just in case the usb port fails (it has done on one of mine). 8)

Still love my playbook - 64Gb of MP4 space that you copy onto using a wifi mapped drive. Okay for browsing but not much apps for general usage. Heat added.

Can sideload .apk's so you're open to pretty much anything from google play. Got mine as a freebie a few years ago as part of blackberry developer jobbie. Good price, heat

was good then update crippled it. wouldn't bother to be honest. hold out for a cheap deal on a linx.

although in saying that i didn't use it for movies for kids, so probably worth it for that if you don't intend to use it for anything else. all that kitkat dude said is true.

I use all sorts of tablets from Linx and Nexus to iPad and agree, these Playbooks are absolutely solid - not so good for apps but very good for watching movie downloads and browsing the internet.

i would recommend getting the rapid charge dock, and using it all the time to charge, thus saving the usb port solely for loading movies apps etc as the usb failing is quite a common problem

Great price, but a little dated nowadays.

Unless you do need the 64GB storage, a used Nexus 7 2012 for ~ £60 will provide a much better experience, especially in the long run.

Just a shame that Blackberry refused to unlock the bootloader so that people could port Android to the Playbook. QNX on the Playbook is almost as dead as HP's WebOS.

Great bit of kit as has been stated above.

Has it's limitations but the build quality is superb movie and audio playback is brilliant and for £40 you won't find anything as well built anywhere.

Heat added :-)

Ordered thanks OP.

It is what it is, a sturdy and well built media player with the added extra of tablet functionality. Look at it like this and not in comparison to a modern Apple tablet worth 10 times this money.

How come mine has a cracked screen then ? :(

I'd only had it a couple of weeks too....it's pretty much brand new, but I cant bring myself to get rid of it !!

Still an excellent tablet provided its strong points correspond to your needs: for me, it's a terrific photo viewer (goes on holiday with me to review photos taken) with decent colours and an invaluable 64GB of memory; brilliant little media player - plug in headphones and surprisingly decent sound; stable wireless connection with problem free playback from my NAS (network storage server). I know it doesn't have the novelty value of other android tablets with zillions of apps, but that has never been important to me. Very good build quality too.

Had one almost from day one. its as good today as the day we bought it. Dont think of it as an android tab, it isnt, although android aps, without much difficulty, can be sideloaded. Used as a media centre its top notch and the speakers are very very good, certainly better than anything else in the tablet market.

The browser is excellent

Let put it this way... If you want to buy a 64GB micro SD card itself, is already £20+. This comes with a screen and battery for £40!!! :0

Superb device - great for traveling , you can use it for music, movies, ebooks, with a bluetooth speaker, or tether with your smartphone for browsing or to use the built-in gps. OS is miles better than android, only downside is that its chunky, heavy and lacks apps. Still the tablet I use most every day. Tempted to buy a backup.

can you use plex on this or netflix?

I find them rubbish..but solid so good for kids in that respect but to much crap for them to mess with...

Just ordered, checkout was weird though. Just went to a blank page with their logo on after confirming address, nothing in my orders and an authorisation in my paypal. Hopefully just going through their system.

On one hand these are dead. On another amazing media viewers and my son loves the fact that it plays flash natively. Unlike iPad... Bargain.
