Love mine, use it daily for email on the sofa / recipes in the kitchen but mostly for watching movies on when cooped up on the train etc. Size is ideal for gaming and to supplement a laptop (which I can't do without) - if your quick at the moment there's 2 free premium games in appworld - Shadow gun (3rd person cover shooter, and Creavures.

Also Pb OS has just been officially updated to 2.1 with some minor tweaks (such as email and calender in portrait mode) as well as improved Android support (Android apps now run in there own separate 'windows' - so if one crashes you can just close that.

i have both. and I don't think it is.

Corrected your post for you, however should you be all knowing and omnipotent thus able to decide subjective opinions for everyone else please feel free to change it back :p

Eco system aside the Pb has many advantages and disadvantages to the Ipad, it's worth noting that pixel density on the pb is better than both the Ipad 1 & 2.

I got one in January after a horrific experience with an android tablet and couldn't be happier, since then I've bought two more, both 64gb for my wife and daughter and now my wife; who doesn't appreciate gadgets of any sort; would not be parted from it. Nuff said...

The thing i find most interesting is that DSG still have stock, I don't see much more in price drops as it's already one of there cheapest tablets and we all know how good the general sales knowledge is there - they'll push these onto a lot of older punters for gifts for the neices nephews and grandkids.

Fwiw I think RIM would be making a hugely bad move if the launched the 4g Pb here, unless there sat on huge amounts of stock already and that of course depends whether they'll work on EE's 4g signal, and even if they are pricing will need to be very very keen.

I've had one a few months now, love it. Really tempted to get more!!
    delusion
I am tempted, but what's the battery life like compared to the nexus 7 or ipad?
    capriboycraig
With wifi off, screen about 50% I get almost 8hrs watching movies.

I would agree with capriboycraig regarding battery use when watching movies but for only occasional use, accessing internet for emails, the odd browsing session/game play etc mine is currently still at 49% charge after 3-4 days.

More and more apps are appearing for the PB and RIM are bending over backwards to help developers. Yes there are still some gaps but once you've experienced RIM's operating system you wouldn't want to go back to android (IMHO!)

I've just read on the tinternet that a newer version of this is out now with a faster processer and 2Gb of RAM. It now only comes in the 32GB version though and it wasn't clear if it's available in this country.

DSG staff knowledge is legendary. They talked my g/f parents out of buying a playbook this week, by telling them the only way to connect to the internet was via a blackberry phone - but 'helpfully' pointing them towards the much more expensive asus's and apples. No mention of wi-fi or tethering to them, so they didn't get a playbook despite really wanting one. They're going back today after I had a chat with them.

I know nothing about these tablets. Are games readily available and what's the screen resolution like for watching films?

    Edit: Scrub that - just noticed it's only a 7" screen :-(

I took a punt on one a few weeks ago when there was 10% off so got a 64GB one or £116 - I wasn't sure it was a good idea as I've had an iPad in the past and didn't really use it very much, I'm glad to say that it was well worth it, plenty of space on it for media and whilst there aren't loads of apps available you can side load android apps quite easily.

The battery life is great, the screen is great, the build quality is great, the mini HDMI port is very useful.

Can't go wrong for the price.

So you can properly use android apps? Connect to net and use gps etc..? Not some half baked gameboy emulator type thing? Could be a deal maker
