Truly black and in blind tastings, Blavod Black Vodka is chosen number one nearly every time.

It's black colour is achieved with Black Catechu, a herb from Burma, creating a smooth and soft vodka.

Producer: Blavod - http://www.blavod.com
ABV: 40%
Country of Origin: England

I dont know how many stores will still have this but for those that missed on the other cheap vodka and spirits this is a good reduction from £12.28 (seems to be more some places) - it's not a bad vodka, cheaper then the value crapp and and it has great cocktail novelty value! :-D

I think cos the product itself is pretty bad. Just a bad quality vodka coloured black and marketed as something special. People get affected by things like that and vote cold, rather than just vote for the reduction. Myself, I wouldn't touch that stuff if it was given free - give me Zubrowka, Wisniowka, Wyborowa, etc, even stoli if i was on a rough night out :)

Heat for the reduction though :)

Fair enough... As I said, its not the best but it is better then the value stuf at nearly £8 - I would naturally choose the prementioned polish loverlies if I was fortunate enough to drink like that all the time... I had some st petersberg vodka before the first tesco deal and it was loverly - but £18 a bottle (litre) makes it expensive - and I actually found the selekt stuff in the last deal OK and an absolute steal @ £5 a bottle - surprising really, and I disliked the other organic one @ 7 that got some interest.

My point is that I'd never buy the tesco value curry sauce (at least I have about a year ago and its still in the cuboard) and many people here wouldent eat it but its a GOOD DEAL and thats what this is about.

I got this because its cool to make funny looking cocktails at parties and it was a very good price for a 40% spirit. I dont think its undrinkable - the best - no but its a damn sight better then the glens that many people drink so I dont see why it should be cold tbh - just opinion I suppose, that the deal should be voted not ones like or dislike of the product

Anyway - anyone that gets a bottle tomorrow - enjoy (and apologies for the late posting I was @ work) :)

Great price, but "smooth and soft" my @rse! I love my vodka and I think this is disgusting!
#13
Give me the cheap and nasty vodka over the expensive ones anyday!!!
#14
keep it in the freezer and drink it frozen, its very nice - mix it with frozen aftershocks for multi coloured layers as well, being frozen it wont mix the colours up and looks cool!!!

Never heard of that - I'll have to give that a try sometime. Always on the lookout for new vodkas to try - had a bottle of 'kosher vodka' some time back (created by kosher means) but didn't really taste the difference.

Did you mean for the Blavod or Zubrowka, etc? If the latter i'll definately have to check it out!

Yes its in a rather nice bottle - frosted with a big base - the real name is in russian - for lack of a russian keyboard it is called 'Pyccknn CTAHOAPT' (well nearly) and says st petersberg on the front - I found it in a big tesco and had not sdeen it before (or since) strangely. But it was certainly rather plesant :-)

I have tried some 'kosher' vodka also some time back - reduced in a Sainsburys of all places lol... and agreed I did not think (nor really expect) it to be all that!
