Our celebration of the 80s continues with this fantastic offer. Do you
remember the first time that you saw a Megadrive? It wowed with its amazing
technical advances. There is no denying that games consoles have moved on
a long way since, but the playability of these games remains timeless. Relive the 80s with Sonic the Hedgehog, Ecco the Dolphin, Golden Axe, Columns, Alien
Storm and many more. There are 10 games in total, so hours of fun for all the family.

Alternatively you can order the 2 person multiplayer version for £15.99 delivered or the portable version with lcd screen and 20 games for £24.99 delivered.

I do enjoy my xbox360, but would love it if computer games had stayed in the 16bit era. Cant beat the originality.

This is well cool..
#4
Excellent stuff :)
#5
Some brilliant games there!
#6
Order by 12 september to guarantee christmas delivery....mmm
Don't look like you'll get it anytime soon.
#7
Whehey!!! Lets get back o an era when programming was bloody hard and the games were origional:thumbsup:
Nice one heat and rep added

Everything about this is cool except the Christmas delivery. Ruddy Daily Mail. Christmas is over 14weeks away! (thank God)
#9
I've just paid and on my confirmation email it states I should send them 10 tokens, Do we have to send them?
#10
Says this on the link page, not sure if it makes it any clearer...

You then need to collect 10 tokens from those that will be printed until
the end of September and send them with a cheque payable to the Daily Mail
for £9.99 by Friday 10th October. Every reader who collects 10 tokens and
send £9.99 WILL receive their console and games, however only those who
have priority ordered or prepaid will get them in time for Christmas.

Reading that back it is confusing, you'd be as well reading the whole thing on the Daily Mail's page below the picture of the games.

Sorry OP, but voted cold, as this is a pretty poor deal really..you can get exactly the same devices from multiple online stores (eg segaretro.net) for on average £5 more than the daily mail's prices, and you can have it delivered for next day rather than next year.

Oh and you don't have to waste your money buying 10 copies of the daily mail either...

So if you are a DM reader and are not in a rush then you save about 20p with this deal, (due to the cost of the papers)..otherwise your probably better off just getting it from a more mainstream gaming store, that may even have quidco :)

slightly ambiguous as if you have already paid online why would you send tokens and a cheque?? theres an 090 phone number you can phone but at £1.50/min I think NOT!!!

Err, if you are a DM reader then the cost of the paper doesn't come into it!

Try Xbox Live Arcade;-)

They have these type of things in ToysRUs - I think they're between 8 and 12 quid but not sure :?

Play-asia also has this product http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-8y-49-en-70-2ftv.html (£11.24 + p&p, but 60Hz) or one that has two pads for less (has fewer games)

Why does that make it cold?

I like the idea of the retro gaming but can't be bothered collecting tokens and sending them off !!

Much easier to download games via xbox live or Wii virtual console. Speaking of which, I downloaded Paradroid on the Wii at the weekend.......an all time classic, recommended !!!

If anyone is interested in playing mega drive games on their pc or mac, you can download the emulators from emulator-zone.com and the games from coolrom.com :whistling:

Warning, this only works with NTSC televisions, and the GB Standard is PAL!!!

So won't work on most TV's (except more expensive ones, or if you send it through a pretty decent VCR with NTSC support)
#24

Less, because it's the 8bit master system and not the 16bit megadrive

Did say it was 60Hz in the post, however most TVs nowadays seem to be fine with 60Hz/ntsc, even my old 5 years old one seem to be fine with ntsc signals... even the more recent £50 CRT tv I have are fine. And should be fine with most lcd/flat panel tvs, but at the end of the day always consult the instruction book.

Relive the 80s

But the Mega Drive was released in Europe in 1990...
#27
Golden axe! I remember those little magic goblins were so hard to get! lol
#28
I'm 99.999% sure that these are bordered and slow 50hz crippled versions, too.
#29
i have the handheld one, 20 games on it - i think Argos are selling for £30 but i got it from playasia for £19 and its not bad, best being hooked up to a TV though.

and it is an NTSC one from playasia, but my TV plays it fine - and my TV in my room is a very old 20 incher, not even widescreen and its of course CRT. any TV made in the last 10 years is NTSC compatible.

so id say this isnt a great deal - £5 plus postage plus 10 papers, not good at all.

It's mail order. You can relive the 80s by waiting for it to arrive
