Zavvi has Bleak House HD-DVD for £9.99, reduced from £34.99. Well worth it, as this dramatisation of Dickens' classic novel is very good.

It has always been recognized as one of Charles Dickens' literary masterworks, but this Bleak House is now fast-moving, daring, gripping television. Here is the murder mystery, the love story, the comic genius and the tantalising scandal of the novel but, stripped of its sentimentality, we find ourselves swept along by a pulsating and edgy drama. Out of an interminable court case spin three young people each searching for their place in the world. Their story moves fast - swirling through an incredible array of characters from passionate young lovers to ruthless lawyers, from an ice-cold aristocratic beauty to a shrewd, relentless detective - until the final thrilling climax.

HD-DVD special features:

Interviews with Gillian Anderson, Denis Lawson and Charles Dance
Commentaries with Writer Andrew Davis, Producer Nigel Stafford-Clark and Directors Justin Chadwick and Susanna White

I was just about to post this....

Anyway, one quick note, that some who use Zavvi on a regular basis might be able to answer.

Neither the confirmation e-mail you get, nor your order information screen, if you log into your Zavvi account, shows anywhere that this is an HD-DVD order. It only says DVD.

I have taken screen grabs of this, Robin Hood & Hotel Babylon (which I just ordered), just so I can prove that it is an HD-DVD order, but can any regular Zavvi purchasers confirm that even though the order says DVD, you will in fact get the HD-DVD.

Great prices though.

Voted hot !

Mods, it's not expired...please unexpire it.

Kev, the image shows it as HD-DVD, as does the product code.

Robin Hood, Hotel Babylon and Bleak House HD-DVDs all have different product codes and barcodes from their SD-DVD counterparts. The SD-DVD sets are more expensive than the HD-DVD sets right now (which has been happening a lot since HD-DVD lost the format war). I'm fairly certain it's the HD-DVD sets. Besides, they've had too many people order to argue otherwise. ;)
I actually found that playing the regular DVD through the PS3 gave incredibly good picture quality anyway, so the real HD set must be amazing. :)
Thanks, Mods... :D
thanks for ya post :) have some heat and rep :)

Received an email from Zavvi "One or more of the items you recently ordered from us (Bleak House) is currently out of stock at our warehouse." Still showing as instock on the website.
why isnt this deal on the main page!!!?
The back order thing is normal for Zavvi...I've had this most times I've ordered from them. They get the stock in to fulfil orders, rather than have stock in to sell.
order is on back order, but becoming jane has been despatched
Had my copy of Bleak House delivered this morning, fantastic picture quality on first look, shame its only 2 channel stereo, but a nicely produced HD DVD for sure at a great price, and hear its a fantastic tv period drama too...looking forward to watching it, thanks again for the heads up OP.
As at Fri 23/5 it's only £7.99 at HMV and etc opportunity too :)
