I wish I had the patience to set this bad boy up......it si too complicated but at this price maybe I can throw it at the wall and not feel so bad......wanted oen for ages.

I was emailed the price just £60 yesterday and this is even better and it is ONLY the box that is blemished....Logitechs way of lowering the retail price without upsetting the high street....keep blemishing them there boxes please......

Take some heat......X)

I just got mine and it took all of 10 mins to set up four devices. Scorchio!

I have a Harmony One remote. Setting it up was as easy as chosing the devices, setting up activities to controll all the devices and then plugging it into the laptop and synch it which took about 45 minutes in total. Yesterday I upgraded the firmware and white lines appeared on the screen. I redid it but still had the same problem. I rang support (the third time in 2 years) and they were so helpful, as always. They then told me the unit was out of warranty by a few months but they would send me a new one anyway! Got an email today to say the new one has shipped from Holland and will be delivered on Tuesday.

To me that speaks of incredible customer support. Way to go Logitech. Gets my vote when a company cares this much about it's customers.

I got one of these and the box was absolutely fine.

They point you to the new software - which is really easy to set up. Then you realise it can't do half the things you want it to.

So you go back to old software, and none of the work you've done is applicable, so you have to start from scratch. It's more time consuming, but I did the main things I need, and haven't got round to finishing all the things I want it to do.

Overall though I'm really happy with it - I think I'd prefer this one compared to the more expensive ones. The remote is very similar to Sky one so it's easy to transfer the 'feel' quite quickly.

I don't think you really have to send anything in, but you can even send in an old logitech mouse and that still technically qualifies, you get a pre paid shipping label as well.

Great deal, thanks - will use this as an upgrade for my Harmony 525 :)

Is there much difference between this and Harmony One?
#13
If only box is blemished, why on Earth does Logitech just put it in a new box? Previous post of selling at a discount but keeping retailers happy has a ring of truth. I have one controls 5 devices, no coloured screen but it is top notch and it only cost 19.99, so for six devices this is not a great deal, albeit it is a good price compared to RRP. If it had controlled 8-10 devices I would have been tempted.

Big difference, harmony one has recharging cradle and touch screen.

This has a lead to recharge, according to website it can last 1 week (wow) without recharging.

I went for the harmony 600 at £39.95 from best buy a week or so ago, more similar to this but much cheaper.

The One doesn't have coloured buttons I believe (I think you use the touchscreen). Other than that, and different power/charging options, I am sure they are much the same, Logitech seem to use the number of devices as the main criteria for pricing. Personally I didn't want a touchscreen, prefer feeling for buttons.

The 700 I have feels very well built and worth 50 quid. Not sure I would pay a lot more for it tho.

Yep same with me with the 650, the new software wasn't as customisable so I went back to the old.

I need a second one so getting this.... voted hot

Technically thats false advertising as the fun WILL stop when you have to go to work or die etc.

Not too sure it is an upgrade - the 700 only handles 6 devices, the 525 15 devices ;)

There's a 'rumour' you can transfer the settings across and it keeps the original number of devices?

I tried that but I couldn't use the code that they sent me against this remote, presumably because it is a blemished box item.

i got a harmony 555 and the numbers worn off after a year of light use, now i cant differentiate red, green, blue, yellow buttons too...is this one gonna be the same too?

If you don't need the extra devices, get the 300 from play for £17.99. And yes, I do know they were £9.99, I bought two :-) Even at £17.99, Highly recommended.

How well do they work with av amps? I had a universal remote before but with half the functions missing soon went back to the draw for the manufacturers offerings !

I often need to switch the surround settings to get the best from the pioneer amp and my wires don't always correspond with the menus Eg sky goes in on an optical lead I to the cd port!

You can check if they have your amp on their database to upload the settings here: http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/remotes/overview?popup=tour-find&WT.ac=psE|4306|Harmony_Test_Drive

No it doesn't. Prolly takes about an hour to get it set up first time with 4-5 devices. That's including adding all the little extra macros you might want etc.

I'd challenge anyone to find ANY device these harmony remotes don't work with!

That's strange I've got a couple of 555s had them both for 3 years or so. Nothings worn off either and they get used every day.

Got a 525 & 555 both of those the colour buttons wore off especially the blue and red, and some numbers too, but got the 700 and so far after a good couple of months it hasn't started to rub, seems better printing on the buttons.

if you're very lucky with your equipment mix and/or you don't care about activities being only sort of reliable, then maybe you can do it roughly in an hour. i'd set aside an afternoon - longer if your devices are incomplete or incorrect in the db as has happened to me several times - and half of that is navigating logitech's tedious as all hell wizard system.
btw, i actually like these remotes, own 4 and have recommend them to others. but saying you can have one of these sorted in an hour is very misleading. it'll take almost that long to install the software and learn how to navigate it. then there'll inevitably be one piece of equipment that doesn't control properly and tracking that down can take hours/days and get quite technical, and possibly be beyond many people. this is largely not logitech's fault, just the nature of what they're trying to do. there is nothing better than these remotes afaik and hard to see how there could be (other than offering an advanced user option for the software to skip all those useless questions).

they still seem to have these in stock - someone must have been pretty careless with those boxes...
