That's as well as the 10 rentals right?

What bike is that in your avatar?
#5
yup! as well as the rentals and 10% discount!
banned#6
Sounds good if you rent a lot, specially as they do seem to charge a lot for game rentals!
#7
I'm not sure I trust my local Blockbuster stores to be around by the end of Summer...
#8
when does this start?
#9
I asked in my local store today if they were closing and I was told 'not yet' !!!, then I asked if they were closing would the DVDs be sold off and was told ' we are just sorting the prices out' !!!, so I would just be careful about this offer for now.

RIP Blockbuster - knew this was coming since last year when I heard the US version was filing for the equivalent of bankruptcy. RIP Brown's/Blair's Britain. Meet the new boss - the same as the old boss. Last to leave turn out the lights. No - can't leave - no planes. Anyone got a spare canoe?

Well then they won't mind if you hang on to the last game you rent from them!

Very good point

I think if you read the small print you only have 30 days from the date of purchase to use it, so its not for the "summer season" unfortunately. Great deal tho and my local BB said it includes boxsets aswell! Hot.
#14
The reason I didn't buy one yesterday was because its only a month to use up all 10 rentals and there is a World Cup on the way!

I asked when it ended, they said "27th June", so I may take this up for the month of July....
#15
That 30 days bit is a right con!!! I was tempted for the game rental side of it but then to realise i could only get four maybe five games in the period takes the ****!! Even more cause theres F**K all coming out in the next few months worth a damn!!
#16
I got this today and its a fab bargain - I rented

2 Dvd's normal cost ................£6.50
1 box set normal cost..............£5.00
2 Xbox games normal cost....£12.50

Paid £20 for card, and still got 5 rentals available. I go every Saturday so for me personally its going to save me a lot of money

I scratched off one side to find that I'd lost. I then scratched off the other just to make sure ther wasn't anything, and you guessed it, 'Congratulations, 1 free rental'. FML.
#18
It always amazes me that our local Blockbuster is still open. I can't believe people bother renting anymore, or is that just me? DVD's after a short while fall to a very low price and with the use of cineworld ticket - or equivalent - you can see as many films as you like.

Even companies like LoveFilm seem archaic to me now.

Was it I love football you scratched and lost on ?

My local BB had this a month back as they were the in the trial area. It's because of the World Cup the Deal. The card was only going to be valid for a month and one per customer. But they've seemed to have changed this now.

Ah right. That was the reason i didn't pick it up. Not enough time for me.
#23
Nobody from blockbusters will ever read this, but I would say this is the type of deal BB should make permanent.

£20 per month upfront is a good source of income.

For the one off it would be better if it were £20 for 60 days, and @ those saying they will be watching the footie, I have a feeling this deal will be catoring for the non football lovers.

Just like whenever there is a football match on the BBC, ITV has Pretty Woman on or something.
#24
When I asked in Blockbuster the guy said the card is only valid for June so you'd have to rent all your movies/games in that time. Is that not the case? i.e. how long is the "Summer Season". Judging by the weather its gone already.
#25
If your post box is nearer to you than blockbuster then your better of with a 3 disc lovefilm package in all honesty.
#26
Seems hot to me :)

That makes it £3.25 to rent a DVD in your BB, in mine they are £3.95 now I think. Normal prices are expensive. I rented a new release not that long ago didn't realise I was only allowed one night and took it back a day late, I could have just bought it for the money it cost me if I'd waited a few months!
Need to get a good Love Film deal again. People on here I've read saying they never end up paying for it as they get offers when they try and cancel. I cancelled it and have never heard from them since!
#29
Does this mean no more 7 rentals for £5? This seems really expensive after the previous deals.
#30
This deal unless you dont have a life is very cold. I buy my games tend not to rent so to get back my money I would have to spend £200 in one month. They may call it summer Discount Card but this is monthly not for whole of season.

You would need at least 4 Game Rentals in the one month to get your money back, or spend £200 quid on popcorn, either way with World Cup and so far scorching summer I will not be sat in front of my TV watching blockbuster movie rentals.

I wasn't offered this in Caerphilly yesterday but I don't think he could spell his name so no grudges but a lost sale :)

and cineworld are everywhere are they?
blu rays are still alot more than rentals and it amazes me why people bother buying films....do they change 2nd time around?
#36
The 10% off isnt bad either as it can be used with their multibuy deals, they do 3 ex rental blu rays for £20 so I got terminator salvation, Law abiding citizen and Taking of phelham 123 for £18 not bad I thought.

Have to agree, why buy a film and clog up your house with something you'll never watch again? Wish i had the time to watch a film twice too.

Wish Cineworld were everywhere as they'd have nearly £30 a month from me for two unlimited tickets.
#39
Also can't believe that Blockbuster will shut, the one near me is packed every time i go.
#40
Good deal but lovefilm is still a **** load cheaper
