I'd have to disagree with that. The stop motion Medusa was far more menacing than the CGI one because much like the rest of the remake everything just moves too fast which makes it too disorientating and confusing.

As a movie in its own right I didn't like the remake, the cheap 3D tricks were distracting, the plot made little sense, the action was hard to keep track of which diminished its appeal and there was very little to like about it. Of course that's just my opinion but I feel there are far better sword and sandals movies out there.

The 1981 version is far superior. The story just flows so much better. The latest version is a right muddle script wise. I would rather have a coherent storyline which develops the characters than a special effects fest with a poor storyline. I still think the CGI is more menacing and realistic in the first film. Will watch the first one over and over but would never watch the remake again.
