Hot deal, Blu-Rays are plummeting already...
#5
mixed reviews, but worth a punt, heat added. thanks

ooo order lots of stuff, keep me busy tomorrow :P I'm the main guy that deals with online orders in our store and its always fun good to be kept busy during the day :P

oh, and if anyone is a bit dubious about buying second hand stuff, i can confirm that our store doesnt buy in blu-rays or PS3 games if there is even a slight scratch on it as they cant be resurfaced.. we'll buy in scratched games/dvds because we can get them resurfaced.. PS3/BR are a no-go so the discs are near enough always in mint condition.. the boxes can be a bit damaged sometimes but they're usually fine too :)
#7
any chance for staff discount? :)
#8
also... if you see any going to warrington, make it a neat one

ordered many thanks

Ordered (Simpsons)

- Heat also added (can't complain at the price of the original BR anyway)

DA63147 - might be an idea to update the title to show there's other cheap blu ray's to be had, not just the original one listed? :)

lol as much as Id love to think this is true, and perhaps it is in your store Ive bought blu rays and ps3 games from cex and they have always had scratches and marks - not that I mind, they are second hand after all and have been kept in plastic cases so its no wonder.

Im a big fan of cex so not saying this isnt hot, just dont expect them in amazing condition or your order to be fulfilled online if there is only one or two of an item in stock as online stock is literally from the shops they have.

Also if they have any stores near you with an item you want trade things for it - i got £13 for lakeview terrace blu ray today which id only paid a tenner for in asda!

touchwood blu ray's i have bought from cex online have never been badly scratched, you get the usual few marks or minor scratches that you would with any used item, i have had one or two order's online cancelled from about 40 orders, but generally been pleased with their service and price:thumbsup:

great stuff, ordered a few myself! http://www.pppcm.com/101l1019.jpg

just ordered matrix trilogy hd dvd for £12 hot from me
#17
I advise everyone to steer clear from buying from online CEX. The chances are you wont receive all or none of your order and they have near on zero customer service so you will have to wait months for your money back.

There is no customer service number and when you email them and are lucky enough to get a reply it usually takes over a week and is no help at all. They are just a complete joke.
#18
Thanks for the heads up

Never looked on their website but its good to see they now have a store near me .
#19
PS3 / blu-ray stuff tends to be a lot better than normal dvd's at resisting scratches.

Think they are made from a much tougher plastic than normal discs.

I don't know why people consider CEX stuff bargains when it's all second hand and most of the games and films in their store can be found cheaper online. They are a complete rip off merchant, hence why i still have a £65 credit note burnign a hole in my wallet as it has for a few months. The flipside being they do give good trade prices, often more than you can get an item for if you know where to look, which is obviously why they price so high....

For me though the occasional more realistic price as per above still isn;t great when 2nd hand... after all nobody lists deals they see in their local free ads on here because people wouldn't even consider it, or even Ebay??? People just seem blinkered where CEX are concerned.

Just ordered Robocop! £4 cheaper than HMV!

Thanks.

Can you please edit "Blu ray's" to be "Blu rays". There's no apostrophe!!!!! It's a plural, and plurals don't have apostrophes.

Pedantic rant mode off.

You've totally missed the point being made. Yes there are some cheaper deals as per above (which i referred to ) which make them acceptable, but overall, they are not cheap and in most cases sell 2nd hand stuff dearer than you can buy new elsewhere.

Besides, why do you dismiss ebay in your comment....it's all 2nd hand stuff. You pretty much prove the blinkered point i was also making.

because ebay bids come in at the last minute, and at the time of posting - no items were ending soon, based on the b.i.n. prices, all were more expensive than cex. :whistling:

never used cex before dunno if its worth the hassle

That is the whole point and structure of CeX.. dealing with "recycled" aka. 2nd hand, goods. Most of which are of a reasonable standard, and it's not like blu rays are easy to trash.. and if they were trashed to within an inch of their life, then - in most cases - CeX wouldn't accept them in the first place - fair enough if you want an immaculate, pristine, high street shop-bought copy.. but you'll pay a fair few quid more for the privilege.

Granted most stuff usually can be found cheaper online (although you could say that about a lot of high street stores), and possibly when compared to other high street stores, they aren't cheap either; but in this case, a few of the selected Blu rays off the list aren't available through alternative 2nd hand means (aka. eBaY, etc...) for anywhere close to as cheap a price - and at least with CeX, you have some sort of grounding point for being able to take it back and get any problems sorted (admittedly, if there's no store near-by, it's not so easy), unlike eBaY, which has to rely on fair traders; and the postal system. The prices in this case are also obviously cheaper than you'd pay for a first hand copy too, which I feel is justified given the reasonable state the 2nd hand goods are usually in; but each to their own, I guess..

Granted, they charge high prices in most cases, but if you're sensible with your trading-in with them, then you won't be stuck with a credit note for months on end - i.e. find something you might actually want to buy-back/trade in return for trading in your goods in the first place, even if you think you could actually get the item cheaper elsewhere - perhaps looking at the more 'high spec/price' goods would make it worthwhile, given the margins, depending on what you're trading in in the first place, of course. Basically, if you're happy enough to buy and sell with them at an inflated currency (CeX credit), then trade with them, if not, then it'd be best to look elsewhere..

Plus, they take a lot of unwanted odds and ends off you that otherwise wouldn't be worth your while trying to sell elsewhere because it'd be unlikely that anyone would be interested in them given their age/condition, or indeed, it would be pointless trying to sell through eBaY instead, for example, due to the inflated fees and what it would leave you with at the other end; even trading in all your unwanted odds and ends can mount up into a reasonable sum, cash or credit, if you're wise enough.

There'd be little point listing local free ad's, given that this site is online based, thus wide-spread of member location and populous, and so each deal would only be accessible to a small minority of them each time - meaning the deals would be voted cold quite quickly, and it wouldn't really be a deal to most because of it - similar sort of thing as the regional cheap console games that appear in curry's and PC World, where very few people find them, aside from a lucky few. Admittedly, you say that the items advertised would be free, but given location, it still wouldn't be a deal to most; as for eBaY - it's against the forum rules to do anyway, let alone having to reiterate the point made about location v populous concentration.

I think anybody that has come across CeX before should be well aware that they base the entire trading structure around second-hand goods only.. :)

Anyway, once again, credit must go to DA63147 for the time/effort in pointing out these 'deals' - however they may well be perceived by some!

Stealth arrived today, in mint condition, not a single mark!!!
