"upgrade to the latest software, which removes the backdoor" or install a clean ROM

This model is brand new (I think it was launched only weeks ago as a pre-order only - beware that all the Amazon UK reviews at the time of writing are for the Vivo 5R), so it's not clear if the shipped firmware will have any spyware on it all. As soon as you set up a new phone, you should always update to the latest firmware IMHO and Blu have confirmed that the latest firmware on all their models is spyware-free.

I've bought one (gold - would have preferred silver, but couldn't bring myself to get the shiny pink (rose gold)) myself at this price mainly because it's a very good spec for the money and my current phone has touchscreen problems. It's not got NFC, but I never use that on my current phone anyway. It looks like you can root it, so hopefully that will be followed by TWRP and a custom ROM if I don't like Blu's Android mods.

Update: Impressively (because I don't have Prime), Amazon has already dispatched the phone I ordered yesterday. Unimpressively, they tried to deliver it to work on a Saturday afternoon (groan). Turns out that Amazon Logistics no longer seems to realise my work address is commercial (yes, I put the full company name in the address too) and now uses the "Weekend Delivery:" options for the address that I didn't realise existed :-(
Still, I've contacted Customer Services to ask for a re-delivery on Monday and also ticked on the "Don't deliver at the weekend" on my work address.

I think this is the best sub-200 quid phone released in the UK in 2016 and it mostly out-specs/out-prices its closest rival (the Moto G4 Plus). After going back to its RRP of 239.99 after Cyber Monday, I can see that today (Fri 2nd Dec) it's gone back to 184.99 again! It might be part of Amazon's Cyber Week, so Sunday could be the final day to nab what I'm proclaiming to be "budget phone of the year" at this stonking price.

In case you're wondering, yes I did get my phone re-delivered on Monday and am pretty impressed wih it. The "extra" stuff you get included in the box probably exceeds what almost any other phone provides and pretty well means that you don't need to buy any accessories. A second type C cable might be the only thing you'd consider buying (as a spare or for leaving at work to charge there, but the phone easily lasts a full day).

Have you used this and a moto g4 plus side by side? how do they compare, as I can't decide between the two. I've ordered a G4 plus (64gb/4gb) but I'm tempted to cancel the order and get this instead. worried that the processor in the blu phone isn't as good though as all these Chinese phones seem to use mediatek.
Also what is the camera like? not expecting it to compete with top flagship cameras but would like something that can take reasonable snaps.

I haven't used the Moto G4 Plus, but I suspect its better rear camera might win the day. The photos I've taken with the Blu Vivo 6 seem fine and the reviews I've read seem to concur that things are OK on that front. It does have HDR mode and the camera app on the Vivo 6 seems pretty good (lots of manual settings and modes if you like to play around). Interestingly, we're well beyond Cyber Week now and both phones are still on offer at 184.99 on Amazon UK - the Moto is the Best Seller of the two at the moment, but arguably the Vivo 6 sneaks the specs race overall.

Thanks for that. I do really like the look of the Vivo 6 so very tempted. If it was a snapdragon processor I'd be all over it but for some reason the Mediatek processor puts me off a bit. Out of interest have you or could you run an Antutu test to see how it does - I know benchmark tests don't necessarily reflect what the phone is like to use in the real world but it gives a good comparison. I think the 4Gb G4 plus scores arounf 45,000. The other thing that puts me off a bit is the choice of colours - wish there was a grey option, but I can live with pink.
Thanks.

My Vivo 6 scored 47,730 on the AnTuTu benchmark - the CPU part scored 14,723. It ranks 50th overall apparently. There is a silver version of the Vivo 6, but sadly Amazon UK aren't selling it. I'm enjoying the phone, but I must admit I prefer to use a tablet for videos and games rather than a phone (even 5.5" isn't big enough!).

Although Blu have promised Nougat for the Vivo 6 at some point, they're shipping it only with Marshmallow and a Sep 2016 Android security patch level. I suspect the Moto G4 Plus will be better at updates than the Vivo 6 in the long run.

it's still at this price - does anyone have any further info/experience after a few weeks playing please? I've been eyeing this up for about 10 days . Thanks
