A very good microphone for the money, certified and all.

You can buy better, but then it's getting into the £175 - £225 bracket and you normally need a stand for those.

Build quality of this thing is like a brick apparently, I shall see later on today.

Good Mic at a good price. I have had a Blue Spark Mic for a few years now.

Universally accepted as a good mic, but I can't see why most people need them? If I was doing letsplays all day or recording it would be good, but the sound quality on my 5 year old £10 one is brilliant for in game chat! Crystal clear, no background pickup

Yeah that's kind of what I was getting at, I get why those people need them, but these days it seems every gamer I talk to has a blue-yeti mic and doesn't know why!

Good for podcasts and situations were you have very low ambient sounds.

I have a Samson condenser, had a few condenser mics now all USB like this and while they are good for voice overs if your into editing game clips or similar they can be a problem to use if you have background noise.

My son insists in using one for gaming but when you listen to recordings it's staggering just how much background noise they pick up. You can hear things from outside our home easily and fans on his pc which just sounds like a constant whine.

This is a good mic and it is a good price just make sure before spending your money that a condenser mic is going to be ok for your situation. If your going to be using it for gaming chat and live with other people in an active noisy home then be aware that this won't be an ideal mic. Given that they are USB you can't run them through your sound card to use noise cancellation.

Best thing you can do is lower the mic volume to about 30-40% and position the mic no more than a foot away from your mouth... and use a pop filter.

Heat added.

Hopefully the directional settings help with this.

Hope fully as I note you can select different pick up patterns with this mic, its still gona pick up background noise if there is any but just play around with the pickup and volume. Set the pattern so it just picks up from direct in front of mic.

Its a good quality mic and under the right scenario it will shine like none other that's for sure. Its a great sound when you get it right.

If your in a bedroom with door closed, nobody shouting downstairs and an uber quiet pc then it should be awesome.
