Popped into Aldi in Dartington Drive, Cardiff (Pentwyn) hoping to find some stock of this CD player at £39.99, and found that it had been reduced again to just £29.99!

Not yet installed it, but it seems to be well received, and you'd be hard pushed to find any car stereo for £30, let alone with USB, aux, SD card slot, Bluetooth and a 3 year warranty.

I got the last one at this store, but you might get lucky at your local.

Bought one of these a while back, been using it fine since.
#3
ALDI offers tend to be store specific - but here's hoping
Thanks OP
#4
I'd already checked another, more in hope than expectation, so don't bother trying the Melksham, Wilts store, there's no stock there.

Available yesterday at my local ALDI on the Wirral.

No. Which ever stereo you buy, regardless of whether it is advertised as 'steering control compatible' or words to that effect, you'll need to buy an adapter which cost around £30+

I have one of these stereos by the way and it's great. The only downside is that you can't access different folders on the sd card you can only move forward/back by 1 or 10 files. So if you have more than a few albums it gets very frustrating trying to find the song you want to listen to which is made worse by it only showing the track numbers rather than names.

There's one in Stockport, Cheadle Heath, but it's £39.99. As of Fri

I shop at Aldi all the time, but didn't see this
#11
i have said model, you can put in three letters of artist to save scrolling,so for 30 quid its red hot
#12
£30 is good, but it's brand equivalent will probably be about £150, which will be in my opinion ten times better.

Bought at Robroyston, Glasgow! Have sum heat.x;)

wow 30 quid, have some heat.

I have two from Aldi, one for me and one for the wife....Great for streaming BT music, I do find the tuners pretty crap on them though compared to my previous stereos. Reception seems to skip in and out at times and can also have other channels jump in over the channel you are listening to for the odd second here and there.

good deal, heat added

Is there a product code so we can give 'em a ring?

I've got a model number, but the box has a bar code with no number so no luck there. Model number is 51486

you can select folders from the sd
ive done it, its on page 16 of the manual
under APS BUTTON it states

APS BUTTON
When playing USB Stick, SD Card or MP3 CD press the APS button repeatedly to
select TRACK SEARCH, DIRECTORY SEARCH or FIRST CHARACTER SEARCH mode.
In TRACK SEARCH mode the LCD will display TRK T 000 and %ash the biggest digit
that the MMC / SD Card, USB or MP3 disc contains. Rotate the dial to select the
number of the %ashing digit from 0-9. Then press SEL button to con!rm the
number and move on to the next digit. Repeat the process for the next two digits
and begin playing your song choice.
In DIRECTORY SEARCH MODE, the LCD will display the root folder directory, use the
VOL dial to navigate to your desired folder. Finally press the SEL button to play the
first track of the folder.

In FIRST CHARACTER SEARCH mode, the LCD will display A-, rotate the dial to select
the !le’s !rst character by the order of A-Z or 0-9. Then press >>| or <<| button to
select one !le. Use the SEL button to con!rm your selection.

also when fitting i didnt use the supplied leads as my car (vauxhall vecra) and same fittings but had 3 blocks
one for the power, one for the speakers and the other i think was for the steering wheel and dash controls and display
all i done was hack sawn the 3rd block away from the the other 2 (not cutting the wires just the block)
and the 2 connectors plugged straight in. only little problem is the radio wasnt holding its radio stations so just had to swap over the live and switchable live,

great stereo i paid £39.99 the other week,
have some heat OP (+11)

normall dead easy to fit, connectors just plug straight in, if not you can buy an adapter to fit your fittings
or if you know what your doing use the suplied ones and scotch lock them to the original ones
if your stereo is a funny shape or double size then you can get a face plate so it fits and looks the part

This is standard size and everything so should be easy enough, but depending on your current head unit (is it stock or 3rd party?) you might need to buy a fascia adapter for your dashboard. It comes with everything else you should need, ISO or RCA connections on back, sub out, ISO extensions, stereo removal keys, metal fitting sleeve etc.

so can you use the speakers on this stereo to make and receive hands free phone calls via bluetooth on your phone?
#26
Don't think so saltysaver, unless your peers have microphones in them!, I think you still talk into you phone and the receiver comes out of the speakers.

i have the same stereo
if your listenig to lets say the radio and you get a phoe call
the radio switches off and your stereo says call in and the number appears on the lcd display
my iphone shows 3 options something like aswer phone , answer car kit and something else (not too sure)
or you can press 6 on the stereo to accept call or 5 to reject it, (opposite to what it says in the manual)
the deault volume for calls is 25 and cannot be altered but can be turned up or down via the volume knob
the stereo also has a built in microphone so no need to talk into the phone its self
its next to the APS button and above the bluetooth logo

you can also stream music from your phone/blutooth device to the car stereo and is cystal clear

Got the last one from aldi Bradford. It was for £39.99. Not sure if it's still a good stereo for the price. Hot at £29.99
#33
Just installed it, was an absolute doddle getting this one in! The only issue was unbending the tabs on the old cage, the last person bent ALL the tabs down - all 15 or so!!
#34
Could be certain stores only have this as they're getting rid of stock from the last time it was on offer.

Not bad for a car stereo.

Lucky enough to get one.

Is it possible to dim or switch off the display when in use (the scrolling leds are bright and distracting)?
#37
Managed to pick up the last in Musselburgh after a bit of negotiation. It was £49.99 but mentioned to manager/supervisor that it was reduced elsewhere. He confirmed that offers can be store specific - if an item doesn't sell after 5 weeks it will be reduced. He also said that stores budgets for reductions could differ. As it was the last he agreed to £15 off so I'm happy.

Thanks to OP for posting.

At night when I'm driving and listening to the radio I just flip down the front as if I were putting a cd in and leave it down. The radio carries on playing and there are no lights in your face.
