Can't believe this isn't posted yet. Anyway it's not the best, but it's worth £1.

Just sent the mrs off to poundland to have a look - was looking at Bluetooth PCMIA (?) cards last night as would prefer to have it all within the laptop chassis - for a pound though I'm not gonna argue. Voted hot for all those people who can find one.

Have some Rep, I've always wondered where to get bread from
#9
not all poundlands have the same things to sell.
#10
Seen these myself in the York store also have multi card readers and guess how much for....

Can anyone furnish us with a picture of this?
#12
I can't believe this got this hot without anykind of detail..

Make? Model? Class?

Is it a full dongle sized thing or one of the thumbnail sized things?

Does it have drivers or does it just use the windows ones?
#13
I'm still not getting Email alerts :x
#14
That is a bargain if it's the thumbnail type, I thought the ones I got from Play were a bargain at 5 quid each.

Still good if the USB stick sized one though.
#15
We have a ****** 99p store locally - never sells good stuff like this - in fact lots of items selling at 99p are actually more than at other shops including supermarkets!

For an extra £1 you can save yourself petrol and parking costs and get it from dealextreme. A nice streamline one as well (works with vista)

Cool i've been looking for a multi card reader. How much did you say it was again.
#24
All dealextreme is free delivery. Pitty about them charging in Dollars, The exchange rate hit a 7 year low today. 1.4$ to £1 last time i used deal extreme it was $2 to £1.

The beauty of the small ones such as: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11866 are the fact they protrude very little, so are ideal if the laptop is being put in a bag :-)

As for PC Card units, not so many laptops are coming with PC Card these days, so it's not as if it is likely to be much use later on.

They still do protrude though. The best situation is if you have a front or rear mounted USB port.

Mine sticks out the side you gotta be careful when you remove it from the laptop case.
#27
Cheers for the link - I still had this idea of most usb stuff being like the size of a usb memory stick so was thinking it would be knocked off - that one's small and rounded though so might give it a go. Rep added.

Nice, for a £1 its worth it.

Yeah, mine has a rear USB port that is more shielded than the one on the side.

When you say "every", you mean you bought several but kept giving them another chance?
Why not buy another one... just one more for old time's sake?

Problems I've encountered with cheap bluetooth devices centre around the fake device id (Device Name: 11:11:11:11:11:11) and unlicensed drivers not working properly. Would be nice to know if this one suffers similar trouble.

Agreed - details anyone?
#36
why do you need a blue dongle again?
#37
 If you have to ask then you probably don't need one! It's bluetooth as well, it's not just a blue piece of plastic that sticks out of your PC.

Backing up data / phone numbers on your phone
Sync'ing your Outlook etc with your phone
Copying photos off
Sending and receiving texts on your PC during the day

These are the main reasons that I use it.

So that it matches with the blue laptop/desktop case!
#39
any photos? receipt? no? cold then
oredered online for double pond

For £1 it's worth giving it a try for the few occasions I need bluetooth.

Their SD card readers are superb and handle SDHC cards with no problems whatsoever.
