Excuse my ignorance; but can this be connected to a TV? Or is it simply to play music via Bluetooth?

i had a quick look of the box earlier when i aldi
    pretty sure it said 32"
and has an optical in so if you tv has optical out (digital)
it will play any sound through the sound bar the tv will play
or you can link it directly to your blu ray player or ps3 etc.... if your tv doesn't have it
didn't look for phono in (analogue) but probably has
i have a 40" led in my bedroom with slim boarders which measure about 37" from side to side
so the sound bar would be 5 " shorter than the tv
so wouldn't look too much out of place

Has this soundbar from Lidl definately got optical connection? I'm unsure whether to go for this or the 2.1 Goodmans?

Can you confirm what options the unit has for connection to the tv? Optical May be one if them. Thanks for your help.

This unit has optical and phono, easy to setup as we are only using it to play music from our phones. Bluetooth easy setup and volume was OK, dont know if it switches itself off yet i will try later on. For what we wanted it for it is very good sound quality and cheap. If you are thinking of buying remember Aldi's stores have limited stock's of these. If you decide you dont like after trying it take it back for a refund, they are pretty good like that.

I have set mine up using the audio cables supplied, via the Sky box. This way I get sound from the TV speakers AND the soundbar at the same time, (which I wasn't expecting.) and it sounds good. I can also play music from my phone via the bluetooth. It all sounds great, but it is a bit of a pain trying to switch the soundbar on and off using the flimsy remote control, I've tried to google how to incorporate everything into the Sky remote, but no luck so far trying to find the right code.
Does anyone know if there is any advantage to purchasing an optical cable to improve the current set up, in terms of sound and remote control use?
(The cables included with the box is a 'line-in' cable and red/white audio cables)

but try aldi not lidl LOL (_;)
2.1 would mean it would have a seperate sub woofer or maybe one built in but normally seperate as the aldi one is 2.0 (ie no sub)

Just bought and installed. Great sound for the money and far better than the £100 Energy Sistem soundbar I had to return last week (sound would cut in and out).

Complements the cheap Finlux 42" TV I got as a result of HUKDeals!

Thanks OP! Thanks HUKDeals! & Happy Christmas! ;)

Hi, Can you elaborate on which cables, and what method you used, to connect it altogether please?
    timcrunkhorn1
No problem - I used the RCA connection (red & black cables supplied) as I have no digital out on the TV. When connected it switches the TV sound off which is preferred anyway.

Also tried the Bluetooth which is great and has reasonable range (2 rooms in our thick walled house).
    bugie
some left in worksop .just bought 1 first impresion is not bad

The soundbar works best with MP3 players.. it is fantastic hooked up to the ipod or blackberry Z10.. but on the tv it sounds.. distant if that makes sense.. have to set the volume on the tv past 20 for decent sound which is about as high as i have it for music without a bar anyway

tbh i think it sounds ok but im not happy with it so going to take mine back, I need one with a sub really so going for something a lot more expensive

based on negative comments RE audio, turning off, and lack of HDMI I wouldn't purchase this. Thanks for the comments from people who have tried and tested. Cold from me sorry.
