Bluetooth USB dongle £1.00 @ Poundworld

Livewire brand USB Bluetooth dongle in stock at Belle Vale Liverpool branch of Poundworld.

This is the small thumbnail sized one not the memory stick sized one. No driver disc but modern systems will be able to operate it.

Posted over a month ago when they all sold out. So now you have another chance to 'tooth up your PC on the cheap.

That's poundWORLD not land. Although they may have something similar in stock.

Anyone know the cheapest way to make your PC wireless (not bluetooth!)? Hopefully a USB thing like this. I use my PC as a mediacentre and want to use my iPhone as a remote for it...

Yep wireless dongle, or use a pci-e wireless card, fairly cheap either way!

check ebay, for wifi dongle about £6. delivered.

why do you need this, all new computers and smartphones have bluetooth built in...or is this for cheap computers?
#18
not all computers have bluetooth built in,

will this allow me to connect bluetooth headphones?

Most laptops comes with bluetooth built in but I wouldn't say the same for desktop computers. This is ideal for older laptops and desktop computers without bluetooth functionality - laptops especially as they're really small.

These are probably the same as the ones which you can get from Asian companies like DealExtreme and if that's the case, these work out of the box with Ubuntu - in case anyone was wondering.

Can't go wrong for a pound really. The only place cheaper will be Asian sellers on eBay or DealExtreme but the problem with those is you have to wait weeks for delivery. Shame Poundland don't stock them..

Don't see why not. Bluetooth is a fairly universal standard so you should be able to connect any bluetooth device.

I got one of these a month or so ago; it's tiny and doesn't get in the way at all. I got it as although I bought a new laptop, it was a basic model. So for £1 adding bluetooth is great!

You can stream audio to bluetooth devices / speakers / headphones. I've had variable results, but I'm unsure if it's the speaker or not tbh.

Highly recommended. You'll need Vista or higher to do bluetooth audio streaming without fannying on with drivers ... it'll do it out of the box on Vista or 7. On XP you'll just get file transfer essentially.

Has a little light in it that flashes blue every now and then.

Poundworld is quite big in the North ... most towns up here have one. Some of their IT stuff is crap, but this is quality.

Limewire brand :-D

I love pound stores, the other day I got 5x 12 Sony AA carbon zinc batteries. Probably wont last as long but 60 batteries for £5 is pretty good ;)

I often wondered about streaming from my PC to my mobile via bluetooth but could never do it with the Bluesoliel software with other bluetooth adaptors. Do you know which drivers would need to be used with XP to enable this as it would be fab listening to music via bluetooth whilst watching the latest DivX.

That's really great! You could have bought 4 rechargable batteries and a chager for the same price which would have lasted a few hundred charges atleast, but you chose to spend the same money and destroy the environment with cheap batteries.

I'm allready dongled up but I'll get one of these cute little ones and then spend the rest of my life looking for it. :-D
#26
It's still a little obtrusive for me. I'll wait for the atom-sized ones.

To be honest, I had XP on my laptop and had nothing but bother with drivers (not just this, a number of things that should have "just worked") so I put Vista back onto it and everythings working fine.

Tried Bluesoleil and some other bluetooth stack that is supposed to replace the standard M$ one but I had no luck so gave up. So, tbh, this might not be the best device to buy without any drivers coming with it and no support if you've got XP ...

My laptop truly is the bottom end of the spec ... so streaming audio can be choppy at times as I think it uses a lot of processor ... but for £1 worth a punt I think.

Oh it's this deal again :P

Nice to see Belle Vale Shoppy getting a mention on here, it's just like the Trafford Centre only smaller.:)

My lappy's got bluetooth built in. Really handy if I want to send something to my phone (saves digging out the usb cable) or use my phone as a remote (saves taking the proper remote out the side of the lappy - I'm always misplacing it)

Remember to make sure your phone can handle file transfer. Most should be OK but you won't be able to do it if you've only got a iphone or a htc.

Nice price!

Just because it's there doesn't mean everyone knows that.
If they didn't know then they didn't know and you're not qualified to say otherwise.;-)

Ok guys, as always it seems that stocks in pound shops are haphazard. They may not be stocked in your local POUNDWORLD but I found plenty in stock in my local POUNDLAND in Gateshead Metrocentre.

I love pound shop bargains - heat and rep added...................
...........I just wish these dongles were priced at two for £1 - then that would beat the 65p price quoted by 'dvhendo' (where on earth do you get them for that price anyway?)
#38
well i plugged the bluetooth device into my laptop with vista on it and it doesnt seem to do anything would you be able to give me any instructions to how i can get it to work as it doesnt say on the packageing ?
#39
Just picked one of these up today, plenty in stock
