Saw this in the Norwich HMV store today.

Update : added Blonde On Blonde and Highway 61 revisited to the title as I saw both of those today instore and snapped them up.

By the mid-'70s, even Dylan's most ardent supporters began taking his artistic decline for granted. Albums like NEW MORNING and PLANET WAVES were fine works, but lacked the visionary spark of his seminal '60s recordings. At 34 he was already being written off as a has-been. That presumption is what made BLOOD ON THE TRACKS such a glorious sucker-punch of a record. One of Dylan's most mournful efforts, this album, which easily ranks among his best, is full of stories about lost love and the struggle for peace of mind. With a simple, country-flavoured backing somewhat akin to NASHVILLE SKYLINE, he recounts shattered love affairs in heart-breaking detail on songs like "Simple Twist Of Fate" and "If You See Her Say Hello". On the vengeful "Idiot Wind" he rails mercilessly against the ignorant and self-obsessed a la "Like A Rolling Stone". The difference here, and the major breakthrough for Dylan, is that by the end of the song, he's lumping himself in with those he excoriates so vehemently.

1. Tangled Up In Blue
2. Simple Twist Of Fate
3. You're A Big Girl Now
4. Idiot Wind
5. You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go
6. Meet Me In The Morning
7. Lily Rosemary And The Jack Of Hearts
8. If You See Her Say Hello
9. Shelter From The Storm
10. Buckets Of Rain

Awesome CD - Great Price - Love This CD & Nashville Skyline
#2
Buy it now! Dylan's finest album (IMHO obviously).

It could be argued this is Dylan's best album. I'd disagree as I love The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, but I do think this is his most accessable LP for those who aren't already fans.

Careful, the question "What is Dylans greatest album?" can give a true Bob fan a week-long migraine.

Nah, a true fan just likes them all for what they are, no need to grade them, that's for anoraks not music lovers.

Well worth 2 quid

HMV has lots of very cheap stuff at the moment some are only £1. I never thought HMV would be selling £1 cds. lots of stuff they can't sell and did to get rid of.
#8
May or may not be his best album but a good introduction for those wishing to pick their first Dylan album proper.

Hot from me anyway :)

HOT!
For me, and for a whole tangled up bucketful of reasons this is his best album and the one I'd keep if all else were stolen by some idiot, babe

Well, it is the 1st Dylan album I've purchased, and think it's pretty good.

I know, it makes me shudder to think I paid more than £16 for a Faith No More CD 20 years ago:(

The Dylan CD is a bargain at £10, never mind this price
#12
Tangled up in blue is THE best song ever,I'd agree with anyone who claims this is his best album and i wouldn't argue with anyone who thinks this is the best album of all time.
#13
I've bought 30 CDs from the HMV sale the past few days. I cant believe some of the bargains I've picked up, and best of all not one has been duff so far. The most expensive was £6 for the CD/DVD edition of the latest Jonsi album, everything else has been £3 or less.
I've listed a few on here so far, but theres too many to do them all!
#14
Has to be Blonde on Blonde for me..I like Visions of Johanna and Stuck inside of Mobile..top tunes.

In know what you mean. I used to think my CD collection was worth a considerable sum of money, but the way things are going its virtually worthless!

this or street legal for me but for £2 everyone should have it.

Tangled up in blue is a classic to rank with all his best.

Yeah done the link to hmv.com for info only, but have stated this is an instore deal.

Just checking this out on grooveshark. Not a fan of Dylan, but I am of Hendrix and I doubt Hendrix was wrong being a fan of Dylan and doing a brilliant cover of All Along the Watchtower. Sounds like it's worth a punt for £2. 70's American music is some of my favourite music so this will be a good addition. I don't mind Tangled up in Blue, and heard that one before, but I have to say I like Meet me in the Morning more.

As said above, and in the title , this is an "instore" deal only

Great album. Worth a punt for anybody.
#24
One of the greatest albums ever, but not necessarily the best first Dylan album for people, most people who don't have any of his albums would think of songs like Blowin in the wind etc, these songs are far removed from that type of song
#25
great price. i bought 3 of this CD instore a few days ago.
also got Blonde On Blonde for £2 too! only saw one of those.

Hi OP (skdotcom) any chance you can let me know where the HMV in Norwich is - on holiday about 10 miles away and heading home tomorrow - would have about 30 mins to nip in but don't know Norwich or where to park!!

There are two HMVs in Norwich - both seeming to carry different sale items. The Bob Dylan CD was in the "Chapelfield" store, which is within the large Chapelfield shopping mall in the city centre. The centre has its own car park, thats as good as anywhere to park. You'll do well to get into the city and back out within 30 minutes on a Saturday!

Many thanks - will give Chapelfield a go - 30 mins is tight but when the missus says 30 usually means a bit longer! ;) thanks again

Just spotted more Dylan stuff in the sale, so updated the title.
