I went into Virgin today, and was advised to wait until Thursday to buy any Wii games as they are having a BOGOF offer starting.

Just thought I'd give the heads up, sorry I don't know more at present.

Probably be all the pants movie tie-in games that were released around Christmas last year that they can no longer shift. I hope to be corrected!
#3
From what the bloke said, it was going to be on all the games, but evn I thought that is too good to be true.

Also for all students hardware discounts are ending as of the end of the month
#4
Probably change the prices to 39.99 then BOGOF
#5
If anyone else knows anymore about it if its going be online bogof aswell as instore please post.

#7
which virgin did you go to?

39.99 bogof! still a bargain if its all the games, £20 each, cant get better than that!
#9
BOGOF? Not a chance any of these will be good games. Look out for ****** ports and games that are under £20 anyway then.

I thought that was illigal as prices in the sale and special offers have to have been at the advertised original price for more than 30 days for them to class it as such?

They will put the games back to the MRRP :x and with all these Virgin offers you're better off buying elsewhere.

Not really a hot deal in my opinion.
#14
Considering their pre-order prices are £25 for a lot of games I think it will probably be £49.99 BOGOF. Time will tell. Got to wait and see!

I don't doubt that the prices will increase to RRP (maximum is £39.99 on Wii games) for the BOGOF sale, which is still great value but they can't list the games at £49.99 as you suggest, as that's above the retail price.

Lets hope it's on all Wii games but there isn't really anything worth buying that we haven't already bought.... hopefully they accept pre-orders too, then i'll buy everything up until the end of next year. :giggle:

As a relative newcommer to the Wii, are there any games on the shelves I should keep an eye out for and more importantly avoid like the plague ?

Voted hot BTW :)

Virgin did this last year with the Nintendo DS games just before christmas. I had just bought an R4 card so wasn't really interested, but it was all games bogoff for the £30 games. Which meant there was plenty of bargains. The guy at the counter said it was only for the day

BOGOFs are not sales. They can increase the price for a bogof all they like.

yeah but they cant go above the RRP as they would leave themselves open to a complaint with the OFT as they are selling the game for higher than is recommended and if someone had proof that the game had for example doubled in price overnight then they would no doubt find themselves in soapy bubble

Zelda is a must and is easily the best game available on the wii along with Resident Evil 4 if they can get hold of it, as RE4 has been extremely hard to find in recent months but can be bought for about £23 online anyway but it's brilliant and worth a lot more.

Other good games in terms of value based on £39.99 for 2 games would include Mario Strikers, WiiPlay with remote, Trauma Center and Wario Ware.

If the offer includes pre-orders, then i'd also highly recommend Smash Bros, Paper Mario and Mario Galaxy from the games that will be released very soon, as these games are all destined for greatness.

Ok - people keep mentioning pre-orders but I thought this was Instore so couldnt be used on pre-orders??

Also - Im betting all the good games will be gone my lunchtime meaning I stand no chance in hell of getting the games I want even if they are BOGOF (I want Resident Evil amongst others)...

I doubt preorders will be included but i only mentioned it just in case.

Resident Evil is brilliant but they'll blatantly have it available for £39.99 BOGOF, which means it'll be £20 if you buy another game at the same time, which is only a £3 or less with vouchers and Quidco, without the need of buying another game but it's worth it if you can't think of anything else to buy.

Depends on the game mate. Some Wii Games can be had for less than £20

I have played a handfull and up to now Resident Evil 4 is excellent, Mario Strikers is good, Excite Truck is fun and Tiger Woods i find quite enjoyable. I didnt like Wario Ware personally as i found it too childish but each to their own.
#26
I have RE4 on the PS2, is it still worth buying on the Wii?
#27
i wounder if there online site will have the same promotion to.

I haven't played the PS2 version but i know they had to scale it down considerably when it was ported from the superior Gamecube version and the Wii version has further improvements on that, so it may be worth it. :)

Hope that helps.
#29
I'd only get the Wii Version of RE4 if you've never picked it up on another console. PS2 & Wii versions are identical except for controls.
#30
Can anyone confirm - is it for instore shopping only or does it apply to online shopping as well.

There's absolutely no law about selling above RRP either.

of course it depends on the game! thats why i stated its excellent if it includes all games, good and bad, old and new.

previously peoples comments were sceptical about the offer. it seemed they didnt realise its an excellent offer IF you can pretty much get any game for £20, providing you buy at least 2
#33
It's highly doubtful it'll be every wii game, but only time will tell.

I was advised it should also be online, but the guy wasn't positive
#35
If it's every Wii Game I bet they will all cost at least £39.99 each. If Super Mario Galaxy, Paper Mario or Smash Bros were out, this would be a good deal. Guess we'll have to wait.
#36
Asked today in Trafford store, manager said defo instore, was not too sure about online. Did say that if it was going to be online that it would say somewhere on their website
#37
Thanks for the advice.

I visited the Newcastle Virgin Megastore today and was told that the BOGOF was on about 12 titles, (wasn't told which) starts tomorrow for definate, also said to try later on as they might have some out on the shelves..

Not all Wii games then.. hmmn (rubbish ones only maybe?):x
#39
At the end of they day, the games will probally be £39.99, but still then that means £20 each for the 2 games which aint bad, hoping the games are good and not movie tie ins n such.
#40
Has anyone been able to findout which games are included then, as i'm thinking of going down there to pick some games up tomorrow morning?
