Lidl are having a "Massive Green Weekend" from 07/03/08. Each store is haveing their own particular offers; so if you go to the Lidl website and enter your postcode it will tell you exactly what offers are on in your local store/area. Some offers are obviously better than others, as is always the case, but I cannot say exactly (as it is store specific) what are the best ones in your local store.

However every store is selling this bargain Bonsai for £4.88
These bonsai trees add an oriental feel to your home

Yes. haven't see many "Compare Bonsai Tree Prices" websites, but I bought one not long ago for £8 and thought that was a bargain.
So this seems a very good price. And as it comes in a nice bag it would be great for Mothers Day too.

No mention whatsoever of "Massive Green Weekend" in that thread.

It just mentions the Bonsai. This thread is about both, seemed silly to not mention the Bonsai as that is available thrughout the UK.

I cannot say what else is on offer as I said in the description, you need to go to the Lidl website, enter your postcode and it will tell you what is on offer in your local store

Why expired? The "Big Green Weekend" hasn't even started yet, let alone finished
#8
These are in bad shape - i got one last time they were on sale, and it is on the mend (1 leaf has started to regrow), but the rest of the tree is bare

It doesn't look like they are wartered or cared for at all prior to sale ... hence teh cheap price I guess
#9
Are these those lidl trees from Japan?
banned#10
They're a bit small.
Have they got any bigger ones?
#11
Bought 2 of these from Lidl a few months ago, they were all in really bad shape and died almost straight away... :(

That's why they are cheap. Leafy poo in a pot.:p

This is a good offer for some one who can keep them alive..I have bought a forrest of these little blighters and not one has survived...

Well if you want one that will stay alive for longer than 5 mins, has some leaves, and is half the price that they normally sell for, then yes it is a bargain.
#18
these were £2.90 in my local lidl around a month ago hehe got one then :)
#19
I got one last time for this price and it's just died on me. Apparently you MUST replant them after a while in new earth in a larger pot or they wont survive and also prune them back regularly. Wish now I'd listened to that advice!
#20
If you want a good bonsai tree, don't buy one of these
There's a reason they're so cheap. The more expensive ones are much older and mature and therefore a stronger, healthier tree. These cheapos will have been rushed through and BLEH! nothing like a real bonsai!
#21
Bonsai remind me of Karate Kid but still i have to admit thats a good price
banned#22
got one of this last time was dead within a week pretty awful.....nothing like the bonsai tree in the karate kid lol

Think i'll pass getting another one!
#23
Bought these a couple of months ago....DIED within a week even with good care. Don't waste your money!
#24
so people who had these die on you - are you sure you 'rejuvenated' its condition in time? No doubt if you just left it it'd die, but maybe repotting it and so on could give it a chance?

I started my own Bonsai Tree business just over 1 year ago. Business is booming, in fact we're moving into smaller premises next month.

I've been looking on this site for just over 2 years, wishing that someone would post something about Bonsai Trees. My work is done.
#28
Waste of money, I went to look at them after the last thread, they were a log stuck in a pot which had started sprouting leaves.

No joke they were all a log about 6" long and 2" round planted in a pot and looked really bad with the cut off end showing at the top.

They were also very badly looked after and looked like they were about to die.

All the Bonsai I have ever send have been miniature trees trained into a nice shape not a LOG!

Sorry but based on this its a icy cold from me.

I spent £69.99 on one for my mum and dad last year for Christmas. It's really big.

You should've spent a little bit more and got a smaller one.

It's not the size, but it's age which matters when it comes to the cost, well and shape ect ect

Sounds to me, like you bought them a tree.
#34
Don't look like real bonzai to me - seen some reasonable looking ones in Homebase but they were £20 plus.
#35
What do you "class" as a real one?
