Probably because Lidl offers are regional - it's not on in my part of the Midlands.

And?

maybe I should get one for my ex since I killed his 10 year old bonsai when he was in Afghan not long after we got together.... :whistling:

I did tell him I can even kill a cactus!! Leaving me with a bonsai... bad move! :p

2 for £8 at the focus near me

Dead inside a week in most peoples houses. I hate trees like this. They give bonsai a bad name.
#13
all dead in my store:x

these things take ages to grow ... they are literally mini trees and take years to grow into what you see ...

Makes me weep when i think of the poor grower being paid 4.88 for his years of hard work !!
#15
can't possibly be good bonsai for this price, but might be worth a punt. Does anyone have anymore info on them? what kind of trees they are etc?

bit apprehensive, its like the mass produced version of bonsai trees, can't possibly end well.

from what i've seen on the cheap side they are just a few years old and made to imitate..not trained as a true bonsai.

Yeah all their boozing it up and going around womanizing they are a disgrace lol

They are usually Ficus Benjamina or similar. Basically they are trained house plants rather than trees. The main cause of them dying is a lack of water in the shop, and then way too much water when they get home. They usually need quite a lot of light and not too much heat (ie not over a fire, radiator etc). The one pictured above looks like a Pine tree, which should really be an outdoor plant. Very susceptible to frost though and a cool conservatory would probably be best.

With that total lack of reasoning as a basis of your attitude to what is a hot deal and what is not, you really are wasting you time on this site, for one thing, MANY deals from Lidl are posted, so you are going to be sorely disappointed. What does your comment means to the rest of us?.... On the site for two minutes, a handful of postings, and spouting unqualified rubbish, as well as making postings trying to circumvent the foul language filters (which I am sure will get the moderator on your tail too) :-(

So, why not redeem yourself, and correct the opinion everyone will have now formed on the value of your pointless comment - and tell us all what is specifically SO bad about Lidl? It seems this particular offer is certainly not too wonderful, and posters have made interesting and very valid points about the techniques and qualities which make this no great bonsai tree, but as they are not any different to the "bonsai" trees offered by any number of other retailers, including garden centres, what qualifies them for your venom in isolation? We would all be interested in where we could find a bonsai better than this deal, at as good a price as we could hope for - now that would be a good post and benefit the thread - I for one would be all ears.

Some people like them some don't, but you seem to think they are SO bad, what is it then about Lidl that is so different to other supermarkets, especially bearing in mind these discount supermarkets are having a boom time at the moment, huge droves of people seem to be saying just the opposite by voting with their feet!
