Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman and Mila Kunis star in this sci-fi action thriller. 30 years after an unspecified environmental disaster, a lone man, Eli (Washington), fights his way across the desolate wasteland of a post-apocalyptic America guarding a sacred book called the Book of Eli, which holds the secrets that can bring civilisation back from the brink of destruction and save humankind. His principal threat is despotic town leader Carnegie (Oldman), who will stop at nothing to get hold of the book and use its secrets to take control of society.

Stupidest film I've ever seen. A twist so dumb that even Midnight Shamalangadingdong wouldn't have dared tried it. I literally burst out laughing at it, but I don't think it's supposed to be funny.

I'm sure almost everyone would disagree with you...

I quite liked it, but then again when I watched it the second time 'in the know' it didn't really make sense!

Found it hard to enjoy this film.
Just spent most of it watching Mila Kunis and thinking "That's Meg (from Family Guy) ?! Yumm..."
That was the biggest twist for me.

it seems this is a real love it or hate it film, rare thing these days solid acting all round and for a £5 what you got to lose, and not many films about the king james bible come out these days ( im not a god botherer ) interesting and inteligent film imo

I wouldn't recommend this film to an atheist. The crux of it is that religion is awesome.

I had to stop watching after just over an hour. Don't worry, I read the rest of the plot on wikipedia.

I thought the film was enjoyable. On the twist, is it really more stupid than other films? Inception? Shutter Island? I thought it was relatively fun and worth watching.

Well, I'm an athiest and really enjoyed it! Without wanting to start a religious debate, surely people should watch and make up their own minds? It is, after all, just a classic good vs evil tale (like every fantasy film ever made, from Star Wars to Lord of the Rings) Stylish violence, and solid performances and quite an interesting concept in general, even though it's obvious what the book is. Heat added for the price.

Don't expect merb to care about that, as long as mugs keep voting this endless barrage of average blu-rays up merb's going to keep spamming them whilst boosting his hukd e-rep/e-ego.

Just wait until the movies are all in 3D and you have to begin your collection of mediocre movies all over again. Hah.

Agreed! I think its more about faith than religion. Its not about the book, (in the end we see its no more important than any other) its about the book giving him a purpose and the self belief to carry out the task. And it certainly doesn't glorify religion as proved in the way Gary Oldman's character seeks to use it for evil.

I enjoyed the film....that said IMO its not a patch on The Road!

Excuse me? Average blu rays? I see a good deal IMHO and i post it. I specialise in finding Blu-rays yes, but don't you dare call me a spammer and DO NOT call people on here mugs either. You have no right.

Especially coming from someone who has only posted 19 deals. Hah.
