virgin is expensive normally aint it so might be good!

Here's the direct link but its on their hompage to

http://www.boots.com/en/50-percent-off-Virgin-Active-Health-Club-Membership_1017053/?cm_re=Product-_-090909_150909-_-C9083_Image2&cm_sp=half_price_virgin_active_when_you_spend_75-_-090909_150909-_-C9083_Image2

'I can confirm what the original poster has said - as I work for Virgin Active.

Even my colleagues can't believe such a good offer has surfaced - this offer will be VERY popular and we have already had enquiries even though the offer doesn't officially start until 10/9/09.

...and to clarify - the offer is not on a 12 month contract, it's a flexible membership that you can cancel anytime with just 2 weeks notice!!!!

...also there is NO joining fee and existing members can switch to the offer if they want to, just bring in your boots order confirmation (you will need to be out of your contract period first)'

Member Jupiter21 Who works for virgin active has written this, if this is so this is an even better deal.

Note that it may be very difficult to end the contract a year after it's set up. This is a case where you really need to check the small print.

So how much is a regular full flexi Virgin active gym membership and how much would this reduce it to?
I've a feeling that the Canary Wharf one near me is £100+ so this is a significant saving, actually making it quite cheap as gym memberships go!

Can anyone confirm/ clarify this?

I think the Kingston one costs about £65 for full membership.

thats what i was thinking, if your local virgin active health club is expensive then this'd be a huge saving.

maybe you could even return the purchase instore after you've signed up, just a thought! lol
#6

Haha hopefully, I'm just trying to get the family to do a bit of early christmas shopping :)

What's the sign up fee at virgin?
#11
Confirmed for colliers wood. £70 a month for the full flexi membership. No joining fee as far as the consultant is aware and all you need to do is take your proof of purchase down. £35 a month for a gym membership is cheapppp. Especially for virgin!

This changes per month. When I joined mine it was £10 - I have a student membership which is only £40 per month anyway. If i had to pay more than that it wouldn't be worth it.

Magnifique! As long as it goes through. I think I may try it. I just passed on my esporta membership £66 a month! £35 a month seems more realistic, plus their pool/spa is lovely there :-D

Oh heat+rep added btw

I agree. But I'd say it was something you'll have to snap up quickly, because I don't see this lasting too long.
I spoke to a sales rep and apparently there are a lot of unhappy customers who work for Virgin right now, as this is cheaper than a "friends and family" rate they're allowed to give out.

The woman I just spoke to at Twickenham said it would be around £40 per month with this offer but depends on the quote given by pru health. :?

Looks like you have to fill in a questionaire first.

i pay £41 a month off peak for pay monthly in northampton, it is supposed to be cheaper for the 12 month contract???...i spoke to someone once who broke their 12 month contract early and got sent letters about taking him to court for breaking contract...? might have to enquire see if i can get it cheaper

was going to join david lloyd in reading with the wife and 2 kids.....total £156/month.....no thanks!! these gyms really need to sort out membership for families
even worse was nirvana spa £500 joining fee per person plus £100/mth - so £400/mth - no thanks, used to go there when just me and the wife
council one - harpers - wasnt too bad at about £60/mth for the family
and they wonder why familes dont go to these places much unless a day visitor - too expensive and not geared up for kids...sort it out!!!!!!!!!!

I am already a virgin member, I wonder if I can wangle this!

You may be able to cancel (think its 17th of the month that you have to cancel by) and then join on this scheme. I did similar with Pruhealth scheme. Ask the staff at your gym.
#29
This is gonna go seriously hot IMHO.

Buy some stuff from Boots, give it away as Xmas pressies or re-sell on Ebay.
#30
Shame there is no Virgin Gym near me :-( ( Chesterfield )
#31
I think that gyms are feeling the pinch to be honest. For most people it's one of the first things to go when times are tough and so they are doing whatever they can. I just negotiated a £20 a month discount on mine which takes it down to almost half price.
#32
sounds like a great deal thks Op

Nice deal! Is there any way to find out prices without phoning?

haha one day i went to virgin at canary wharf and asked bloke how much is membership he told my to wait and he will get some1 for me, i waited for 15 min and gone home without anyone telling me price for membership :whistling:

Twickenham quoted £60-£90
#36
Thanks!! Been considering it for a while but SW London is not exactly cheap - at least now it'll be more reasonable!

Twickenham quoted £60-£90

Yeah, I got that as it's a "classic" gym. I'll probably have to pay an inflated price as I'm just north of my ideal weight.

Is the price you were quoted before or after discount?

Twickenham are charging more as it's built in to the famous rugby stadium.

I'm in no way knocking this discount, it's ace, but as a side note.....£100pm for gym membership for some places??!!! I feel a little embarrassed to say I was looking to get my £29pm Fitness First lower!!lol.... money money money down south by sounds of it (jealous)

Hi mate,

Thanks for the info.....I am currently on a one month rolling contract paying an extra £10 on top of the usual £50 monthly fee...if I wanted to make use of this offer do I need to just take my Boots order confirmation to the gym or do I need to cancel first??

Thanks
