Currently Boots are performing eye tests for just £5. Offer lasts till the end of the year. IMO Boots perform by far the best eye tests, so I will be popping along this afternoon to have mine.

Print out the voucher - http://www.boots.com/wcsstore/cmsassets/Boots/Library/Assets/PDF/Boots%20Opticians/Voucher.pdf/Voucher.pdf

And viewers in Scotland get them for free everywhere...

Nice, have some heat, need an eye test soon

Why do you think Boots are better? Do they do something different? I had my eyes tested by Tescos last year and they said I had something wrong with one of my eyes (blurred optic disc). But two eye specialists said there was nothing wrong and the optician was at fault.
Might give Boots a try next time.

Drat. One day too late.
I wish they would just say all eye tests for £5 rather then using a voucher.

TBH, I can't really comment on Tesco as I've never had one there. But at some high street opticians, I have been tested in 10 mins! It's like they can't wait to get the next person in. I was in Boots for 45 mins this afternoon and they performed tests (flashing dots in your peripheral vision etc) which others don't do. I always feel as though they care about their work. As I say, this is just MY experience.

Depending on health and family history - can be more frequent in those cases.

Sorry - lots of history with glaucoma and diabetes in family....

Boots vantage machine offered me a voucher to have a free eye test but I didn't bother to print it out.

Hi, I don't normally post on websites but my sister went to Tesco's for a free eye test this year and they didn't pick up she had early onset glaucoma, she's 30. This is despite showing all the classic symptoms and bringing them up with the optician. She had to have emergency eye surgery to reduce the pressure and save her eye sight. If you have any history of eye problems in your family I'd probably advise spending the £10 and going to a decent optician.
