I've been getting meal deals for a while and have always been told you can't get the big bags of Maltesers / M&M's / Revels etc.....but you can now!! Around here the meal deals are £2.99 or less which means with a large bag of sweets costing £1.89 you are only paying £1.10 for the sandwich / salad and a drink of your choice!

If the meal deal is more near you (London is £3.49) then it's a little more but still a bargain!

+1

Maybe they can also provide them with some mouthwash to wash them down with. ;)

In every Boots I have been to, it includes any dessert up to £1.39.

Voted hot. I am glad they are doing sweets now. I wasn't keen on that funky creamy stuff that they put in the packet with the fruit.

I am sure the buy 5 get one free is still valid in the North East of England where there is a celing of £1.35 for the bags of sweets. Well it was listed on my receipt a couple of days ago.

I wonder if there are regional differences to the promotions or what can be included. I know that the meal deal is £3.29 or £3.49 down south.

Also there is no "buy one get one for £1.99 in the same week" in our area.

That deal is no longer valid,, they new deal is buy one meal deal and get another meal deal £1.99 in the same week.
Brought two today and they allowed me to have one for £2.99 and one for £1.99:thumbsup:

Please check your facts before spouting misinformation.

Just because your store no longer does the "buy 5 get 6th free" deal does not mean the offer has finished in ALL stores....

I live down south and its £2.99 around me, so its clearly not just a case of North and South.

The £1.89 bag of sweets / chocs was mentioned as being part of the meal deal in the previous thread re. the Boot's meal deal.

The only problem being, at least here in Liverpool and probably most other major cities, is that the Boot's stores located in the business districts are generally the smaller sized shops which don't tend to stock the £1.89 bags in the first place.

I normally pass two Boot's shops in the course of my day at work, the first being the one at Liverpool Lime Street station and the second being the one in Castle Street at lunch time. The best I can get in either of these shops is a £1.35 bag of Werther's Originals. No Maltesers or Minstrels are sold in these shops.

There's a bigger shop in the middle of the city centre where they're sold but for the sake of getting a bag of chocs instead of a chocolate brownie or whatever then the extra walk is hardly worth it.

As mentioned above the newer "buy one get one for £1.99" offer seems to be limited to certain regions thus far, none of the stores in Liverpool seem to know anything about it. Though don't forget that BOGOF's on drinks such as the recent Lucozade BOGOF are included on the meal deal.

I'm personally annoyed with Boot's at the moment. I transfred my meal deal loyalty from Sainsbury's to Boot's a couple of weeks ago, following Sainsburys discontinuation of their £3 meal deal.

I signed up for the Advantage card upon my first purchase and was told the usual speil by the assistant re. the "6 for 5" offer and was told to use a temporary paper card until receiving my permenant card. I bought the 5 meals deals to qualify for the free "6th" meal but was denied the 6th one as apparently the free "6th" meal deal only registers on the permanent card. Something I certainly wasn't told about when I signed up. We're now into the next calendar month and I have lost my free "6th" meal deal.

Theres no need for this imo.

As you look at it this way 'just because your store does do that deal doesn't mean all will'.

this is fantastic. After eating my salad & sandwiches for lunch, I like nothing more than eating a massive bag of sweets.

I think that it's a case of £3.49 in London and £2.99 outside London, although as others have mentioned the deals on offer (and the prices charged) can vary from store to store.

I wouldn't be surprised if the "buy one, get one for £1.99" deal is being trialled in a limited number of stores to see how it influences sales.

One problem with the "buy 5, get 1 free" deal for me was that I like to vary my lunch. If it was near the end of the month and I had already had my free meal, I wouldn't go to Boots again until the start of the next month, as I knew that any meals I bought near the end of the month would never get to 6.

as i posted on the last deal its always worked for me
i have a bag of maltesers minstrels and buttons in the fridge ready for the next cinema trips.
in fact i have started to take a bag of twiglets as a back up for the drawer at work for lunch so i get the deal

its handy when bogof sprites etc too and at 2.99 its the best meal deal value wise

Our record saving has been over 6 quid, we are having a battle at work to see who saves the most

kaits is probably forgetting there are other places than London in the south. The meal deal is £3.49 in London and is still buy 5 get 1 free.

I havnt checked myself yet, but I dont think its compulsory to eat the sweets.

If it isnt compulsory maybe give them to your siblings, neices, nephews or maybe your grandmother would enjoy them, notice I left your father out of it,

Phone Customer Services at Advantage Card and tell them whats happened, they're pretty good at putting things right :)

I would be offended if somebody replied to me in this way.

Problem I have is that I would gladly grab the big bags of sweets in the offer but would be so shamefaced if they didn't go through the till as part of the meal deal. I would think that the cashier thought I was so greedy. I could never go back to the store again. Has anybody succesfully bought the sweets.

Perhaps I should watch out for deals on backbones!

I have just been to my local Boots (Old Broad Street in London, near Liverpool Street station) for lunch. For that store:

- The "buy 5 in a calendar month, get one free" deal is still active.
- They do not have a "buy1, get another for £1.99" deal.
- The cost of the Meal Deal is £3.49.
- The maximum value of the dessert is £1.35.
- They do not stock larger bags of sweets.

Your mileage may vary!

Thank you Plod! What a fantastic deal. My wife and I intend to buy lunch at boots with this offer before taking our 4 children to the cinema. That way, 6 of us eat for the price of 5, AND the bairns have their large bags of sweets to eat during the film!!!!

I went in to check today in my city centre Boots, and it all works out fine!

OH!!!!!
#29
No big bags of sweets of any kind at Eastbourne. Still running the 645 meal deals.
#30
Use the large bag in the deal regularly but only allowed up to £1.35, you can include diabetic sweets in this too!!
#31
I usually buy the medium size bags of sweets (so maltesers, minstrels, revels etc) which are usually about £1.25 or £1.35 as part of the meal deal as I went for the snack up to £1.35.

Following on from this post, I tried a larger bag of maltesers today which are normally £1.89 as my snack and it went through as a meal deal so this does work (in Edinburgh at least). I expect you just need to find a store that has the larger bags of sweets.

So my meal deal today was sushi - £2.80, smoothie - £1.85, maltesers - £1.89 - all for £2.99 so a saving of £3.55! I can also confirm that Edinburgh still has the 6 for 5 offer.

Does the big bag o' sweets still work with meal deal?
