- In a late development this evening, Borders UK joint administrators Philip Duffy, Geoff Bouchier and David Whitehouse of MCR announced that closing down sales will begin tomorrow (Saturday, 28th November) at all 45 retail outlets of the chain. The sale will affect all branded Borders and Books Etc stores across the UK.
The loss of jobs is sad - really bad management.

Who gives a crap about the staff! What about those who are long-term unemployed with a disability, are fully able, willing to, and seeking work, but because of the discrimination they face time and time again no employers will take them on, and then no employers will take them on because they haven't been employed in ages as well. At least they have had a job and will no doubt find another eventually. I'm not trying to be callous but there's people *much* worse off.

I doubt that they'd be reduced as it's just a concession inside the store. A bit like GAME I very much doubt they'd be reduced in the Borders store's they're in.

Judge each case on its own merits and not in comparison with others. Are you telling me that if a friend lost their legs in a car crash you would say 'Who gives a crap, there are people who have died in car crashes you know!!'.
I understand the harsh stereotypes and majority of society who think they are better then those who are disabled, my husband is in a wheelchair and people forget he is a human being, stepping over him to reach things on shelves and staring. Try to spare a thought though for the people who have worked at Borders for a long while and know nothing different. The parents who will really struggle this Christmas time now and have the burden of unemployment hanging over them.
There's always someone worse off, but if everybody thought like that, no-one would give a damn for anything.

Thats what Remploy.co.uk are there for, to help with this problem.
I know someone who works for them, and they get employment for many many people with disabilities.

Was about to say I was in the Brighton one today and saw exactly what you have said valid until Sunday. Apparently its off everything but the dvd section was distinctly lacking in "20% off" signs... Knew I should of posted the sale myself but assumed someone else would have already!

Shame about the company as it's the only place in the UK that sells my favourite magazine; IDN Magazine. Costs a fortune to buy it online =[ Grr!

i think the reason you dont have a job is because your attitude stinks like ****
how can you say something like that, sort your life out and then you might get a job! i for one would not employ someone like you...
build a bridge and get over it!
