Any good? Need a new one

Ive been using a Bosch 34" recently. Much better than its Black & Dekker equivalents.
#3
I wonder if this is different from the Rotak ones that always get good reviews
#4
Bought one of these a couple of years ago, after my trusty petrol flymo got pensioned off, tried a new flymo, but quality was cr4p!
These are superbly well made and give a nice cut, well recommended, can you get quidco if you reserve online?

thanks, just got back from b&q where i picked one up, handy as i was looking to get one, big garden so this should come in handy.

It’s no different; it’s the top of the range ‘corded’ model. The Bosch Rotak range of lawn mowers are widely regarded as the best rotary mowers compared to their competitors.
I have never seen the Rotak 43 this cheap.

just bought the 36cms model a few weeks ago,(£76) still in box, not sure wether to take it back for a refund and get this instead
#10
They are good. I have got one these from about 2 years ago - paid a whopping £135 for it though.
#11
I just bought the Rotak 34 at homebase on Friday for £82.49 (pricematched with Argos)

Might take it back and go along with me old maw and get this one from B&Q instead
#12
I have had one of these for 4 years. By far the best mower I have ever had.

Decent rotary mower most important thing for a good lawn. This is cheap money I paid around £180 for mine and that was a bargain at the time !

Thinking the same but trying to justify the extra £24

Very easy IMO it has a 43cm cut radius vs 34, so less effort cutting your grass.

Pretty much 30% less effort actually.

Stick it on setting 3 and cut your grass once a week with this in summer and it will look a million dollars.

Wish I had an excuse to buy one but mine still works fine !

Picked one up on Sunday. Delighted with it (except for running over the cord in the first 5 minutes  ) One of the drawbacks of converting from petrol I guess :whistling:
#16
Good mower. I've got one. Does lack self propulsion and the grass box fills up quickly (could do with being bigger) but all round performs well and is light and easy to use just so long as you remember not to run over the cable!:-D
#17
I have the 40" version. Excellent mower and a great buy at this price.
#18
If the mowers are anything like the hedge trimmers, then this will be the daddy. I got a new Flymo 60cm 600W hedge trimmer in the 15% weekend recently. First outing and my hedge killed it within five minutes. Took it back and upgraded to the Bosch 60cm 700W trimmer (fortunately B&Q honoured the 15% for me on that too). The bosch took to the hedge like it were butter!

Ah, but you didn't factor in the approx 20% weight increase of the 43 compared to the 34 !! :-D

I have a 34 and it's a great mower. If I had a bigger lawn (and no dodgy back!) I'd certainly be tempted with this. Fantastic price

I hear what you are saying, mine is slightly bigger 36cms model, but i guess more time saved in the garden with this model

I have had the Rotak 40 for about 18 months and it cost more than this. Best mower I have ever had by far! Great buy this.

If you pick it up tomorrow night you may not get it at the price of £99.99? According to the OP the offer finishes on the 14th. And this note is on the reserve & collect page of the website:

*Prices may change on a daily basis. The price you pay will be the price in store on the day you collect and pay for your items, which may be different to the price shown on this site.

Wish it was on longer, as mentioned earlier I would have been down there on Wednesday for Pensioners 10% day if it was!

Great mowers, you won't regret it. Bought one (37cm I think) last year to replace a Flymo and should have done it years ago! Easy to use, cuts very well, picks up all the grass, cuts close to the edges and by reputation will be reliable. What more can you ask?

Paid more than this for my 37cm one.

Moved to house with bigger garden, trusty flymo works ok but can be hard work.

Was looking to get something different like this...however this review put me off a little....justified or not?

I bought this to replace my 15 year old 36cm wheeled Flymo mower. Wish I kept the Flymo, It's with my son now.
It cuts grass OK under ideal conditions but if it's wet forget it. It's no good at picking up leaves or hedge trimmings. I think it's down to the design of the grass-box not letting enough air flow thru. It's brilliant at cutting over border edges and is light for moving around. But the lightness is also probably responsible for the extra noise and vibration this makes over the Flymo. The Flymo was still on it's original blade, only needing about 3 changes of cable in it's 15 years. Can't see me keeping this past this season.
I have given this one star for reliability. Have not had it long enough to comment but this is my estimate."

You can also get 3.5% through quidco for reserve & collect items, so another possible £3.50 saving

Thanks for pointing that out, don't want to miss out so I called them up (1 left) which now has my name on it for collection later today. Rep added. ;-)

EDIT: Also picked up a set of cable retainers for this mower on Amazon for £4.99 they bolt to the handle and allow you to wind up the cable neatly.

Fantastic Mower, Cuts very clean and very easily, you might have to cut very long grass on the highest height setting and then again on a lower height, but even that will be quicker than using another electric mower.

I was very impressed and i only have to cut my grass one to two times a month and its improving the quality of my grass while giving my stripes.

would deffo recommend this!

Seriously I cant praise these things enough. Ok I am a Bosch fan we have a Bosch dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, garden shredder mower etc etc put its just such a good product. I had a top of the range flymo at our last house, absolute garbage, weighed twice as much terrible cut it destroyed the lawn !

Having a wider cut does make a big difference especially if you have a decent sized lawn (which I dont in fairness) but I do cut it every week in summer so the 10 or 15 minutes it saves having the bigger model soon adds up.

THe grass box is a decent size the reason it fills up so quickly is that its so efficient at collecting all the grass. My flymo with the grass collector left as much grass on the lawn as it collected, providing its not full this seems to suck up every blade of grass it cuts !

Above is rubbish about it not picking up leaves as well. In winter I turn up the height to 4 and use it to cut up, and collect the leaves. We have very large trees in our back garden and every week when they shed there is up to an inch deep of leaves on the lawn. It sucks them all up mulchs them nicely for the compost bin. Its like a hover so good I got rid of the garden vac. When its finished the lawn littery looks like it has had a vaccum cleaner run over it.

As for reliability mine has been going 4 years so far and its still as good as the day I bought it, this is a newer model and a bargain price but I cant justify buying it as my current one works fine. Keep in mind mine gets used quite heavily it gets used every week for most of the year, its never needed any maintenance or repair its on its original blade, cable etc.

BTW this cuts grass completely fine in the wet, however you shouldnt cut you lawn in the wet as it damages the lawn much more than cutting in the dry. Even if it means leaving it another week its better to leave it to dry out a bit in my experience.

How anyone can compare to flymo I have no idea, they rip and tear at your lawn I have a top of the range flymo and it ruined my lawn at the last house had bald patches everywhere from the damage it did !

Wow bargain dad just bought the 40 from amazon for £111 - used to have a petrol mower and this he says is fantastic - dosent roar like a sports car but is much less effort when using.
Just plan what you route is going to e 'cos of the cord and you should be fine!

This is an excellent mower. I bought this model for £150 a while back.
The height adjustment is simplicity itself: just press the handle to one side and lift the mower to the desired height. Changing the cutting height takes about two seconds.
It's made in the UK, too!

What is the lowest price inc. p&p if online for replacement blade for this?

Doesn't sound at all like the Bosch I have. Picks everything up and not excessively noisy. Don't think you can blame the manufacturer for cut leads!

Be aware that this offer ends tonight.

B&Q Leeds has some, B&Q Bradford has one left (was two).

H&R added. SWMBO's birthday present sorted. Yes, she's getting a new lawnmower - romantic aren't I ?
#36
Just been to collect mine, there were 2 left plus a display model at Netherfield B&Q in Nottingham.

Marked at over £167 on the shop floor.

Thanks again for this.

Great deal just picked my one up thanks op

great. got one already. let's get another one

Yep....
These are the pups nuts..bought one 2 years ago ..light weight and easy to handle.. good selection cutting depths.. knocks spots off the flymo's..only draw back..the power lead could do with more length..

Ok so bought one today and tested.

Rule no.1 one with plastics, putting that collection box together without a bit of fairy liquid is hard work...and that first two screws too some going to put home, same old mass production.

Could have been designed better, ie like our flymo where the handle folds over in one swoop to make easier storing.

Stacks of cable for our garden and could have devised a way of storing, I'm a stickler for detail and things being neat and tidy....why have a Karcher washer for example that you have to coil up cable and just do whatever with it when you can have one with a reel etc, simple, easy and neat.

The collection box fills very quicky and is not the best to empty, might have been slightly easier if getting fired into a green waste wheelie bin but having moved from such an area, dont have that luxury now so trying to get rid into large refuse sacks was not ideal.

So some negatives, however the cut...well a cut above the flymo that's for sure.

Still nil points for design and innovation....shame on you Bosch :).....mind expect that, the super dooper kettle they sell is also badly designed and they don't seem to try and rectify it.
