more reviews on amazon where its £100 still - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-ART-23-18-LI-Featuring/dp/B00GZLFR56

i just ordered the last one in the nottingham area (bulwell) - will pick it up in the morning. been looking for something to replace my 20 year old flymo strimmer, which i seem to spend more time manually feeding the line back out than actual trimming borders. hopefully it will make doing my garden considerably easier!

*edit*
just got a call from the store to say the one they had in stock in bulwell had no box/accessories/etc and there was a lot of cosmetic damage. they are cancelling the order and refunding me.

ffs

In other words they either a, didn't have it so told you it was wrecked so you cancelled or b, a member of staff fancied the last strimmer they had.

To be truthful stock control in Wickes is a bit pants in my experience so they might not be able to find it.

For those looking for a cordless strimmer, I highly recommend the one Lidl sell for £39.99, which comes with 20 plastic blades and a 3 year warranty. It has exceeded all my expectations.

I have used it throughout the summer and am still only on my 3rd blade. I have a large grassed very steep garden at the back of my house and have always struggled with trimming the grass on the slope, as its very tricky to stand balanced on the slope and try and mow it at the same time. There has been many a time over the years when I have slipped down the slope while trying to mow it, with the lawn mower having a similar fate, ending up at the bottom of the slope. If only someone had filmed it, it would be classic you've been framed material :D. A corded strimmer was always equally problematic with the line breaking and needing to be fed in again every couple of minutes. This lidl strimmer has been a God send. I now no longer neglect or struggle to trim the grassed slope of my garden. Also, although I haven't needed to buy replacement blades, I have looked them up and they were very reasonably priced on amazon. I also saw some in a high street pound shop that looked like they would fit although the plastic may not be as durable.

The only down side for me is the battery. For my needs I would like a battery with a longer running time, but for most people it should be more than adequate. As I said I do have a very large grassed slope and it takes a fair while to do it all with a strimmer. Most people would not be using a strimmer in that way and probably on using in small areas for short periods of time. I have never enquired about getting a spare battery but it may be possible.

I hope my recommendation helps someone.

What spool? It uses a plastic fixed blade, not a spool. Sounds like you've experienced a different model.

Homebase are clearing these for just under £30 too. I picked one up.
