sorted byMy wee review is that it is a great machine. Good large porthole on the door to fit washing in (and out for duvets!). Nice quiet machine when working. I like that the water at the start comes in from top and bottom, not just bottom, so the stuff gets good and wet. My favourite feature of the machine though, is that you can set any load to "aqua plus" by pressing one button. This means that your washing actually gets a decent amount of water, which no matter what anyone says, definitely DOES make your washing cleaner! Great feature if you have plenty rainfall in your area and no water meter! My son loves the 15 minute extra quick wash (which actually takes about 20), though I've never tried it.
I can only think of two negatives to this machine - 1, There is NO half load option! This was important to me when choosing a machine and I had looked at so many that I must have overlooked that check point on this machine, assuming a Bosch would have it! No it doesn't. 2. If you even so much as brush past the machine while it's on, it will change the programme, so be very careful! The slightest feather touch will do it. So now I can't put my machine on in my small kitchen until I'm finished doing everything else, in case I change the programme by mistake. This shouldn't be an issue in a large kitchen or utility room.
Looks wise, it's chunky looking, not so stylish. I dislike the large black ring around the door, I wish they'd made it white, or silver as on the more expensive models as the black is a bit weird looking. Apart from that it's fine. The fascia sticks out somewhat, so if your space is shallow, maybe look at a different machine.

VERY confusing indeed! The one you're looking at with the £70 cashback has a few differences that I can see. Firstly, it has a 1400 spin speed, the deal on this thread is max 1200pm. Your cashback one is " brushless", making it quieter in operation (the one on this deal isn't that loud anyway though) and will never need brushes replaced. Your cashback one doesn't have the option to change the temperature of your chosen wash programme, the one on this deal does. The fascia on your cashback model is much less "cluttered" looking than on this thread deal, you have a nice shiny chrome effect main dial and buttons at the side. You have a plain white door, with no black ring round it. I know all the specs of the machine for this thread as I have the virtually identical one (except mine is 1400, not 1200). If I was choosing between your cashback one and the thread deal here, I'd go for the thread deal one as it works out cheaper, the difference between 1200 and 1400 spin really isnt noticeable and you can change the temperature of your chosen wash in the thread deal one, which is really handy and for me is used almost daily.

Is it worth paying more for brushless motors? "..I imagine the mere fact Siemens give a 10 year guarantee on it may stand in good stead toward their confidence in their motor..I take a more pragmatic viewpoint towards this type of technology, as I have spent over 45 years of my working life fixing domestic appliances..from vast experience that if anything can go wrong it will go wrong. Only the time factor as to when this will occur and at what cost is harder to predict.
Chances are that if the motor holds out for 10 years the other vital components within may not be so resilient, including the very thing that controls the motor. LG have a motor that is also guaranteed 10 years but try getting LG to replace it free of charge is (so I'm led to believe anyway. ;)) another story.
Siemens and Bosch are the same product don't forget. You pay more for a Siemens though, hence why they can afford an extended guarantee period." (from May 2011).

You must be good at those 'spot the difference' competitions!
The consensus seems to be that, nowadays, modern machines just don't rinse well at all (in fact the Admin would like to see, as well as an Energy Rating and Spin Efficiency and Wash Rating, a Rinse Rating with all new washing machines). Most machines now are cold fill (takes more time to heat the water), and making washers "green" means there just isn't a decent amount of water to wash and rinse. Added to this, our greener washing machines take LONGER to wash than machines 20+ years ago!
Longer wash times mean, more wear and tear on the machine, more wear and tear on our clothes!
There are some who are so frustrated by this that I've seen comments from those adept at repairing washers who actively look out for good condition, older, built-like-a-tank, un-green machines to fix up and use. Some even buy old top loaders.
With my last two washers, I always did an extra rinse as I hated the "residue", particularly on bedding. I have no doubt I'll be doing the extra rinse each wash with this Bosch. The rinsing issues modern machines have are bad news for those with allergies such as asthma or eczema.
It is actually scandalous that washing machines, in real terms, are much cheaper than before*, which equals worse build quality and reliability, are harder to repair, and worse at doing the job they are intended to do! Whatever happened to progress?
*My very first, bottom-of-the-range washing machine, in 1993, was a Frigidaire WM850, 850rpm washer from Currys, at a special offer price of £209.99 Nearly 22 years later, the cheapest machine available can be bought for £150!

I will use the Aqua Plus button with every wash-it's well known modern machines don't rinse well. A nightmare for those with allergies. With my old machine I always did an extra rinse.

It looks in the photo like the paddles in the drum are plastic (could just be the angle of the photo). Washing machine manufacturers do this for one reason alone......cost. Makes me wonder what else they may have cut down on. Are bosch trying to compete on price more now?

That article realy just says that as some machines use "fuzzy logic" now, the half load is obsolete. I disagree with the article that most machines now have the fuzzy logic and disagree that the option is obsolete. Like I said earlier in my post, I use the Aqua Plus button too every time I wash a full load as I never think there is enough water in these "eco" machines. I used to add five one litre jugs of hot water to my old machine before you could actually see any water though the door!
"If they are made of a suitably high quality of plastic then they are usually fine and don't break... if they are designed correctly as they are on the ISE10 washing machine then they can be removed easily allowing access to clear out trapped items that may have found their way between the drum and outer tank of the washing machine.
However, poorer quality plastic and, especially what is viewed as "customer misuse" is a common reason for the drum paddles to break.
The most common cause of smashed drum paddles and, often, damage to the drum itself, is washing items that really shouldn't be in a CLOTHES washer, such as mop heads, training shoes and suchlike that people think are okay to machine wash. But even children's shoes can not only smash the plastic drum paddles but they can also dent the inner stainless steel drum itself.
Please remember that a normal domestic washing machine is designed to wash clothes and noting else, it is not designed to wash items such as those mentioned and similar.
Of course you can also get a washing machine (Miele make some) that have metal drum paddles however it is important to remember that whilst these are tougher as a general rule, that the machine is still not designed to wash anything but clothing. There is of course the other obvious disadvantage, they cannot be removed to gain access to trapped items in the tub."

the WAQ283S1GB has £70 cashback + further cashback if bought with dryer. I think this one, at 299, on has cashback if a dryer is also purchased.
