Nabbed the last one of these from Taunton B&Q this afternoon, was a massive section for them at the front of the store though so imagine a re-stock likely, guessing it's nationwide(sorry, didn't think to ask how long this offer would be running for).

Great price for a li-ion(no battery memory issues) Bosh drill and 14 volt is enough for your average user. Supposed to be £129.99 full price, £94.98 on amazon anyway.

how many batteries?

Just the one, not really a problem unless you depend on them for work though as it's a 1 hour charge:)

[EDIT] Thanks for the link by the way MR GUS, have some rep.

Amazing HOT deal! I have the NiCAD one with no hammer action. But tempted to upgrade for this one, thank fully not that much diy to do so i wont bother.

so you should change title (PSB 14.4 LI-2)on PSB 14.4 LI
thanx

It says PSB 14.4 LI-2 on the box of the one I bought(which was sealed BTW), are you sure the last number represents the number of batteries?

[EDIT]It is part of thh model number, if you look closely at the image on the B&Q website you can see it written on the drill, as it is on mine.

Still £49.98 for me.

Many thanks for the heads up. :)

Really like how you can just sit the drill in the charger without detatching the battery, small detail but so much better than the usual upside down battery charge method.

Yes, have never seen that before.

You can never have enough power tools.

I just received a couple of new DeWalt ones at work(from a recent B&Q deal), [EDIT]Just checked and they're the same ones[EDIT]

They're good build quality, but aren't half heavy(the batteries are massive, although they are 18v), mind you this Bosh is a fair weight, although more comfortable to hold IMO. I don't find the screw-control ratchets very good on the DeWalts, even on the lowest setting(1) it doesn't seem to cut the spin reliably, unlike my old Bosh ones.

Also the light is better on this Bosh drill,, on the DeWalt the light shines from under the ratchet which causes alot of shade making it nearly a useless gimick, this Bosh shines from the base which gives off far better more workable light.

I guess power and battery type might be the decider for you, 18v NiCd, or 14.4 Li-Ion.

I'm voting this hot because for a Li-Ion drill, it's a good price.

I personally think that the below deal is better: 3 batteries, half-hour charge, and a drill that is a rebranded Makita.

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/693595/site-smb601-14-4v-cordless-drill-dr

The batteries are fast-charge Ni-Cd rather than Li-Ion, but there are 3, with longer work-time, and the drill is very good quality indeed being made by Makita (the Makita branded version in nearly 300). (Though to be fair - no hammer on this one - not an issue for me as I have an SDS drill for the heavy work).

just what i needed

Bosch max speed 1550 rpm
Site......................... 1200 rpm

Bosch Chuck size 13mm
Site...........................10mm

Bosch Warranty 2 year
Site..............................1 year

The only advantage IMO are the 3 batteries.

The bosch chuck is also much better

Both are cracking deals though.

It might be worth adding that this product is part of the Father's day gifts 4 day deals which ends tomorrow. So I guess the only chance to buy this for £49.98 would be tomorrow. After that, 'the price you pay will be the price in store on the day".

Reserved 5 each at Poole and Southampton store, going to keep 2 and sell the 8 on ebay for £75 delivered.. :D:thumbsup:

reserverd 1 thanks. I dont supose anyone know where i can get a good deal on a sander thanks
#21
Reserved, but with low stock. I have so little faith in B&Q with regard to their stock control that I expect to be disappointed, but it's on the way home from work tomorrow, so it's worth a punt.

Cheers for the deal post.

Don't believe the hype with Bosch tools and B&Q reduced prices. They are highly inflated in the first place so they can do the 3 for 2 offer on Bosch Power tools and accessories.

I'm a DIY newbie and new a power drill for an all rounder.
Is it worth the extra £40 to go with Dewalt? (http://www.screwfix.com/prods/73596/Power-Tools/Cordless-Drills/Dewalt-DC100KA-GB-18V-Cordless-Combi-Drill)

I heard that they are unbeatable for quality, anyone vouch for Bosch?

Ive just bought This Dewalt drill and its great, the power is spot on, its a bit heavy though, but for the price this Bosch deal is great, ok its only 14.4v but with the Li-On battery you wont beat it i dont think.....

Bosch quality is excellent.

The Dewalt drill that you're interested in is a lot bigger and heavier and are usually overpriced IMO..

Unless you plan on drilling lots of holes in masonry or will be giving your drill plenty of use you'll be more than happy with the Bosch.

bought one of these on friday, well worth the money :)

search for "POS400" on the B&Q site. I have the random orbit one, it's very good for the price and two year warranty. Uses the bosch-type standard 125mm velcro sanding sheets that you can get from Ebay ay 40 for less than £8. Comes with dustbag, hoover adapter and three sheets of sandpaper. It's quite big.
#30
need some decent ish drill set to go with this, anyone recommend one pref in the sale like this

thanks

Reserved 2 last night at the Washington store but just got a call from them saying that they had none left, they did though reserve me 1 at another store.

So even if you have reserved them that's no guarantee that you're going to get them as it appears that their reservation service isn't as good as the likes of Argos.
#32
Hi there. I have reserved this item, but just want to make sure whether this is a good all-round drill. I won't be using it daily, though may do frequently from time to time. Will I be able to drill all sorts of material without any issues?
#33
heat just bought 2 in wakefield store only 1 left

Was about to ask about the battery rating but found out that and some more info that may be of interest to people:

Battery: 1.5Ah
Maximun torque: 23/40Nm
Weight: 1.7Kg (nice and light)

Going to have to get one, even though I've got about 3 cordless drills aready. A bloke can never have enough tool.... right?
#35
Stock low in peterborough!

Quidco tracking @ £1.49 thanks again OP!

It won't be brilliant for drilling in concrete, not many cordless drills are, just the really expensive ones, but it'll do the odd hole. Engineering bricks would also be difficult but it'll drill most of the standard modern bricks. Apart from that it'll be a very good drill for the money. I'm getting my hands on 2, just couldn't resist at that price.
#37
I'm tempted. What makes this a better product than a £30 wired hammer drill from Argos? I don't know enough about drills to know the difference.

Thanks for the advise, just moved into a new house, so hopefully will be using it a fair bit, I'm still tempted by the dewalt as I think the double battery would come in handy, then again a 1hour recharge isn't bad. Just need to get the drill set sorted now :)

Just reserved one. A nice gift for fathers day.
