I got this lawnmower as a gift last year and it's brilliant (Mine cost £110 from Amazon and well worth it). There is currently 33% off the RRP bringing it down to £97.81. I think it's the newer version of the Rotak 40. It's got excellent reviews too (check Amazon).

I've used the "Reserve & collect" facility so will pick one up for my Dad tomorrow from my local store. I also used Quidco to get an extra £2.

If you use the 15% discount code, the price comes down to £83.14.

This indeed is a very good lawnmower as I have the 32" model, heat and rep.
#3
got this earlier this year for my father who is athritic ans had hasd a knee replaced. HHe could nop longer manage a heavy petrol mower and he loves this. So easy to handle.
#4
hot deal, will collect before the weekend, thanks OP

I have to agree excellent lawn mower bought one this year and would buy it again!:-D

I think this is a B&Q lost leader.
Has price been hiked before hand to claim its in sale.

I bought one recently from Bargain Crazy for £55.
It has also been featured on Bargain Crazy since my purchase.

Excellent lawn mower. Cut is remarkable. Lawn looks really good. Also gets close to edges. My only gripe is basket is fiddly to empty. Takes some shaking and manual hand in basket to pull out and empty grass cuttings.

can I ask where to get the printed 15% voucher from please? I have tried to search and nothing is coming up.
Thank you

indeed i have the 32inch one.

very happy!.
#9
I have the 36 inch one for a year or so and have been very happy with it. This seems a good price especially with the voucher
#10
I was after the smaller 34 model, but this works out £11 more, even after the 15% voucher, than the bigger and more expensive 40.

My local B&Q only has the 34 in stock anyway.
#11
How long is the power cord on it? My petrol mower has given up the ghost so am in need of a new one. Would ideally want a petrol one but at this price this would seem a good deal.
#12
I have the cordless one of these and it's excellent. Very powerful and I love having no cord :-)

surely you mean 32cm

I had the 34 (or possibly 37) and was very happy until it just stopped a couple of weeks back. I took it for repair but apparantly the engine had gone and uneconomical to repair. I think it was less than 3 years old, so I'm not sure how long you can expect to get out of the engines :(

Bought the next size down (37cm?) in Argos a couple of months ago when I finally gave up on the latest Flymos, which are hopeless. Paid full price (around £130) as there were no deals around then but it's still excellent value. Easy to use with excellent results. Should have bought one years ago!

Absolutely brilliant value to get the larger one at this price - HOT!

Dead link. Cant find it on their site.

many many thanks for the link

I have the larger 43 cm one, which I got from Focus discounted to £110.

I cannot complain about it, and its a best buy in Which? too.

A Best Buy since its launch in 2006 and still holding its own against the new contenders, the Bosch Rotak 40 lawnmower has no mulching option, but is a good bet if you prefer to collect the clippings.

This was quick on the standard lawn and thanks to its rear roller gave a perfect striped finish. It was one of the best performers on damp, long and rough grass too, so could cope with everything a typical family lawn could throw at it.

It was also one of the best at cutting right up to a lawn edge thanks to the red lawn combs and inset front wheels. However, it was let down slightly by its performance on short grass, though rotary mowers aren't generally well suited to short ornamental lawns. The grass collector's also a bit small for a mower of this width.

The Bosch Rotak 40 is easy to use but let down by a couple of niggles - the single-handed switch is uncomfortable and the single cutting height lever is fiddly to lock in position, requiring practice.

The grassbox is easy to remove and refit, but tricky to empty. However, it's easy to move on and off the lawn thanks to well-positioned carrying handles.

Pros: A powerful mower that cuts right up to the edge

Cons: Altering the cutting height a little fiddly

There are seven reviews of it on Which? by members, but one has complained it has burned its motor out twice since he got it.

You sure you never purchased this rolls royce in grass cutting ;)

Only one I can see at a tad shy of £55

I can't get this link to work anymore (It did work yesterday!).

EDIT: Sorted this out now using phead's link... Thanks phead!. You can now click through.

To find the lawnmower:

On the B&Q site www.diy.com, highlight "garden", click "garden power tools". On the left, select "lawnmowers". On the left again, find "By brand" and select "Bosch". The Rotak 40 should come up as Bosch Electric Rotary Lawnmower 0600881C71 (Dia) 40cm.

You will also see the Rotak 32 (£69.98), Rotak 34 (£109.98), Rotak 34 Li-Ion (£249.98) and Rotak 43 Li-Ion (£419.06) on this page.

I think the Rotak 40 at this price is a bargain. I've been searching around all year to get one at £110 max. To get one at £55 is brilliant... well done!

I'm afraid the 15% Voucher will not be allowed as T&C's state "The discount excludes store mark down items".Has anyone been successful with their voucher for this item?

Cut the cord close to the handle and add a 2-pin duraplug to each cut end. You can do the same for all your mains power tools and use same system for extending their reach by using excess leads with half of each duraplug on each length of power cord.Make sure you have a male and female connector at the end of each power cord!
This also provide a safety feature as you can disconnect the power from every tool at the tool rather than the power socket.

Very good mower and a very good deal. HOT.
I've got the Rotak 34 and its excellent. I paid almost the price of this Rotak 40 and in fact wish i'd got this 40 as i have a largish garden.

Hi SammyB,

I've just been to my local B&Q and found the mower priced at £146.81 (I think), spoke to customer services and took my print out from the website which showed £97.81, they matched this then I produced the 15% off and they deducted that!

Total cost £83.17 total saving £63.64

Over the moon!!, superb find.

B&Q Bradford (Thornbury) have 1 left in stock as of 30 minutes ago.
#32
Just reserved one, will send the wife in tommorow to pick it up.
#33
Many thanks OP. Looks a great buy! Mine reserved for collection tomorrow. T&C of voucher says "Excludes store mark down items" but.....what actually is a marked down item? could this be one?
Seems to be accepted as others have said., so...will give it a whirl. Cheers heat added.

Expired?

After reading The Birds post above thought printing out the page would be a good idea, but its now back to £146...

Hoping my reserved one will scan at the sale price :/

Edit - printed out my reservation email which states £97.81, thought at the bottom of the email it says..

" Prices may change on a daily basis. The price you pay will be the price in store on the day you collect and pay for your items, which may be different to the price shown in this email."

surely you mean 32cm

Yep your right, thinking it was a ride on lawnmower then.

Hmm just got a phone call to say that altthough i had one reserved for tommorow there now isnt one and i have to wait until monday for one to come in and then pick it up on Tuesday. Now seeing that the price has gone up i wonder what the chances of getting it for the reserved pick-up price is?

I have a feeling this deal is starting to cool.
#38
Just been in & was told they weren't available at 97.81 today, but would be reduced tomorrow.
Told them it was already reduced on their web site, so they asked if I wanted to reserve one for collection tomorrow which I did (two already reserved, with only one left on sale).
Perhaps there has been feedback to their web site & they've amended it till the deal starts tomorrow?
#39
Thanks for that info.

As previous post now £146.81 but showing 1/3off...???... spoke to DIY.com and they said that £146 is the discounted price but they are out of stock????
