my car has been acting weird, it's an 2012 a3 and I do lots of miles, but recently I had noticed that the electric windows have been playing up, not going down or up properly, the boot button didn't work till I pressed the unlock on the key fob again, and the passenger door wouldn't unlock, all this with the engine running.

A week later every time I start the car I get a low battery warning, it goes after a few seconds.

does anyone think that I have faulty electrics that are causing the battery to drain, or could a faulty battery cause those electrical faults? don't want to waste time at the dealers for a warranty repair if they will just blame the battery.

if its french (citreon, peugeot, etc), then prob faulty elecs 'o)

Or Italian.
Or an Audi, perhaps, with it being an A3? oO

Great find.

Great find.

I always find this website to be the cheapest for most car parts. Sometimes their ebay shop is cheaper. eurocarparts (sister site) always same price or more expensive

Thing about car batteries I you need to check when I was made. Of it's been sitting on a shelf for a year that wont have done I much good.

They are part of Eurocarparts

Pretty sure they'll be dated. and I recon eurocarparts go through a lot of stock for batteries not to be held for long.

Look at the price for the Exide Premium. Its often cheaper and is a better battery. Remember 'SAVEME75' for 7.5% discount.

If you get a warranty any battery is good imo

Halfords sell Yuasa Silver batteries but they cost over £100

Check the CA (cranking amps) especially if you have a diesel. Less important with small petrol engines. The Halfords battery for my diesel has 740CA which is well above the Bosch and Exide batteries I've looked at, but it seems to be longer.

I have a 1.4 mg zr and these are rated for them and the 1.8's as far as I know. Yes, larger engines need bigger batteries but for most this will do I suppose

As explained already. Higher capacity and higher cranking Amps. But they are usually a few pounds cheaper than the S4 but in this size the S4 is the same price as the S3 so is a good deal.

For my application this battery is perfect. Takes less than a second to start a well sorted k series, which is why I've been so worried about how mine starts, especially having the radio running at traffic lights. Seen as the battery does charge I can only guess the battery is dud. I could have checked with a multimeter but the battery in it is none branded, and the bracket screw was seized, so all signs to needing a new battery and for this price it's not much to lose

The amount of rover's/mgs still on the road compared to similarly aged cars suggests that hg problems aren't as prevalent as people think and when they do go it isn't that expensive. Easy engine to work on, cheap parts. You see less 02/3/4 audi's on the road than mg's.

My mrs had an mg zr and to look at it was nice (probably one of the best ones around) but my god they are full of problems, and hers already had the head gasket done.i always found it amusing the way the seat material would come away from the frame every time you sat on them lol

had a k series engine and had a catastrophic head gasket failure...
put me off rover for life!

Nice price. I think the 065 is exactly the same dimensions, so look at those if you feel you may need the higher CCA and capacity. Also, varta batteries are, as far as I can tell, the same as Bosch but usefully cheaper.

I don't know - it's pretty easy to change the seat covers thanks to the way they come off, but I guess not to everyones liking. The rattles are the worst problem with mine. They are slowly driving me insane

I just searched mine and found the recommended battery size for my car. Should be in the manual or similar

Outstanding value, although I have 2 of these s4s in my cars. My "daily" (work from home) and tracktoy and I require a warranty claim on both each year due to dead cells where I don't use them enough. Can't even leave it at the airport for 2 weeks without cranking issues at the end of its year life. Normally I'd swap to a different make( although sized correctly) but the warranty is GOLD. I can drop it to a local EurocarParts and get a no quibble replacement. Free batteries for life as far as I'm concerned. Seriously hot, but inevitable returns (in my experience) would be a pain.

£87 for mine don't know if that's normal as new car, :-?

Seems unusual that Bosch would allow ECP to repeatedly re-start a 4-year warranty term on a replacement battery, but full respect to them if that is the case and not simply total 4 years warranty from purchase of initial item.

My parents just had the head gasket go on their 97 1.6 K series coupé at 84k, the first time since my brother bought the car in 2000, our mechanic friend did the head gasket with a new cambelt and a new water pump, oil, filter, flush and coolant, all things that probably needed doing anyway at this age, plus an MOT for £450. That's less than it costs to service many cars at a main agent, or even tax some cars. Indeed if it went every two years it would still cost less than some new cars in servicing.

In comparison my brother's 2.5 year old low mileage Audi had the dual mass flywheel and clutch go, forking out well in excess of £1000 for it (nearer £2000 I think, general prices are online as it's a common problem). The Rover is on the original clutch, and if it does go, it could be replaced for £150.

It would have been a shame to have the Rover die, she's actually really nice to drive, and looks good too (Met blue, 6 spoke alloys and targa roof), she's not faultless but at least she's cheap and easy to fix, and has charm. :)

thank you...i was looking for car batteries yesterday and you have saved me atleast £10. thank you again

I got 2 batteries, one for mine one for the wife's. Then used code cp15less for £15 off.

Just in time and saved me quite a bit. An RX8 battery by Bosch for about 50 quid is good.
