tempted to get one of these (already got one of the old ones, but the new style in red would look great in our new kitchen.

Oh and the coffee's great too.

The wife want a coffee machine but dont know which one to get, Senseo , Tassimo or the one that looks like a duck

the link above seemed mostly a list of conclusions rather than a review of a machine itself.
a) they're well made, b) cost per cup is around 20p and yes, the reservoir is on the back of the machine - out of the way of day to day use.. oh, and cup size?? the in built stand is adjustable in height with a slide lever to raise/lower the cup level. If you have really tall cups, you remove the stand (which looks like a cup itself) fill your coffee and pop it back again - removing/replacing takes less than 2 seconds.
a great deal on a multi purpose machine that makes many different teas, coffees and even hot chocolate. heat and rep added.

I merely posted that review to alert people to the price per cup, twice that of the Senseo. Plus the comment that it is made of "cheap plastic". But if this rocks your boat then thats cool.
I buy the Nescafe sachets at 20p each with no outlay for a fancy machine, plus I have a Senseo and a couple of 'eco-pods' for my filter fix.

Well i gave in and bought the wife one for xmas, got it from Currys using pricematch for £55, saved me a 30 mile round trip to Argos

Ordered a load of drinks from the Tassimo shop as they seem the cheapest and free delivery when you spend £25

EDIT: Seems Argos have reduced it further to £48.94 grrr

That is the old model by Braun. Bosch now makes it and it has been redesigned with new features.

Voted hot.

Are you sure this is not the old model? Cause everywhere else its 2 litre capacity, but the one from Argos says 1.5 litre. Argos website being sloppy and not bothering to write down the model number doesn't help either :x

Yes it will be new model, The pic on the website is new model and has option in 3 different colours. The old model only came in one colour

Sorry man but you really need to ignore that review. It's terrible.
I doubt the reviewer got to even try a Tassimo.
He never even tasted the coffee, He never worked out that you remove the base for larger cups and what use is a review in Dollars the way the currencies fluctuate at the moment. (being picky now ;) )
One thing that does stand out is that if you check the readers vote, at the bottom of that review, on which coffee machine they prefer, over 60% chose the Tassimo. Nearly twice as many votes as any other.

Most supermarkets stock the t-disks for £3 a packet or 4 for a tenner
16 disks for Cafe Crema (capaccino) so about 15p a cup.
8 milk and 8 Expresso (one of each needed) in a pack to make the most excellent Latte Machino at about 30p a cup.

I have the old one and the new version.
The new one has a far superior build quality, looks better and is a lot quieter.

Could I ask a really stupid question.

What is the difference between the tassimo and a nestle dolce gusto coffee machine. I am a total novice to coffee machines and have managed to reserve a nestle dolce gusto machine at Argos. But now everybody is saying how good the tassimo is and I am really confused.

Any help would be great. Thanks

I purchased the tassimo last night from currys with the price match plus 10%. I have been looking at the tassimo and dolce.
Lot of people of rating the tassimo . I can say after using mine for the first time last night the latte is like buying one in a coffee shop. And the drinking chocolate was lovely.
It is so easy to set up . Why i did not buy the dolce was not much choice in selection of drinks, Plus i looked in my local supermarket and their was only two choices in the store compared to tassimo.
I hope this helps.

We've had the Tassimo from Amazon a while ago, used it for a couple of weeks then sent it back to Amazon - it sucks!

1. The drinks available are not that good - you get better taste from any cheap powders (e.g. a Cappucino bag costs £1.5 at Tesco and it makes 50 cupts).

2. Some drinks require two or even three T-Discs, making it quite expensive (neary 60p a cup). Still cheaper than Costa but I would expect a home-made cup to cost much much cheaper. As in the example above, a Cappucino cup costs 3p only.

Also, it takes as much time and hassle as making your coffee manually. Heat some water in the kettle, pour it in a mug, put a spoon or your favourite drink and coffee-mate if require, stirr it and you're done!

If you still want to try it, make sure you buy it online or from a catalogue company so that you can return if you don't like it.

I bought one last year, sent it back.

I dunno about the coffee as i don't drink it,i drink nothing but hot chocolate and as the poster above i agree the taste is terrible very watery,i prefer the Galaxy hot choc cups one can buy from Home & Bargains,99p for 10,much better taste in my opinion.

Same here :-) Bought it last night purely coz it's such a good price. Bought loads of different packs from Asda (£2.97 per pack) and thought the coffee tasted awesome! Many thanks OP. Hot

we have had the old dolce gusto black which we loved and i replaced it with the new red version this week which we equally love, i wanted the red tassimo to match the kitchen but they were all 85.00 so i went for the dolce gusto again, coffee from them is as goos if not better then if you goto a cafe

but since the tassimo is now half price we have ordered that too, so ill let you know which is the better, i know the tassimo seems to always have the coffee pods on offer whereas the dolce gusto never does

would appreciate any links to cheap coffee pods if anyone knows of any :)

How do you order on-line and get the price match?
#32
how much are the refill pods?
#33
Anyone looking to buy one of these don't be fooled by the cheaper pods over the Dolce Gusto.
My parents have the Tassimo and I the Dolce Gusto, for many of the drinks the tassimo needs 2 pods, there is not enough for a large mug in one pod unless you fill with hot water which defeats the purpose of a good coffee.

IMO the Dolce Gusto is far better if your a coffee lover, the Tassimo has a good variety of pods but the quality of the coffees is just not there.

Out of the 31 drinks they sell only 4 of them use 2 disks (13%) , not that many

Out of the 9 flavours of Gusto 4 of them use 2 pods (45%) , so you will find the Gusto percentage wise needs 2 pods way more than the Tassio

With the Gusto they do not hide the fact, you need the milk pod and the coffee pod.
What I was saying is that with the Tassimo you should only need 1 pod but end up using 2 because there is not enough in 1 pod, with the Gusto there is always enough for even the largest of latte glasses.
