Seems like the best price for this. Please don't go on about other speakers being better as it is pretty boring. This is about these speakers only so if you can find a better deal please let me know as I am planning on getting this. You can get them in black or white.

The SoundDock® digital music system from Bose was specifically designed to expand and enhance your enjoyment of the music stored on your iPod®.* Just slip it into the docking cradle for the BOSE® sound your favourite songs deserve. The iPod® charges as it plays, so you enjoy music without interruption. Its sleek, slender design fits almost any room's d?r. And the included remote lets you control the SoundDock® system from across the room.

As nice as the Bose sound dock is you'd be better off buying Altec Lansing IM7 speaker dock. It's available cheaper and is far far better than the Bose. Check Amazon reviews or iLounge and see why. It's available in the original white/silver or the newer updated black.

I can't praise it enough- it's louder, has better mids, highs and lows- thanks to the in-built sub woofer. Really fills the room and doesn't distort at high volumes. And it looks stylish too as well as being able to run off D cell batteries should you want to take it to the park, bbq or wherever there isn't a power source handy

Great info - thanks. But does the 3G nano fit the cradle?

My mate has this and it is ****ing brilliant!

We use it for Cricket so we can play the entrance music and boundary music etc. You can hear it comfortably from one side of the pitch to the other with the volume on at 3/4 full volume.

And the sound quality is superb.

Altec Lansing? Nah, stick with the better Bose system!

I must say his is the best system i have ever had, had altec lansing but blew it up.Bose is the best there is in my opinion...........

Bought the SoundDock in the US a few weeks ago for £130 tax-free so this is not a bad price at all - just wish they'd bring the price of the Portable SoundDock down now.
#8
I'll have a set of 22 caret gold plated monster cables as well please.

Hmmmm - I am after one of these too - anybody else have some decent feedback? I am genuinly interested in hearing this, so far Bose seems to be winning? (Sorry I'm new to all of the IPOD bits - just got my first one EVER, and want a decent sound dock)

Heated up as I think it sounds good?
#10
Hmmm good price for what it normally costs but I still wouldn't buy it. A lifesystle product, very convenient and easy to use but I prefer a separate speaker / amplifier setup in terms of sound quality and upgradeability.
#11
No highs, no lows, must be Bose.
#12
The new Bose SoundDock is out next month. This is updated with a better remote and supports charging etc for iPhone/iPhone 3G.
#13
Paid £199 for this. Its a great piece of kit and a bargain price
#14
I have the BOSE Soundock Portable version (cost me about £250 off ebay on release) which has a slightly better sound than this, but this is still a great price for the original as BOSE tends to fix the prices of its goods and this has been £199 for the past 8 months or so.

People who write BOSE off usually do so on grounds of price, or because it doesn't have the sonic adjustments available on a hi fi, but for ease of use, style and overall performance it was the best single unit IPOD speaker I heard on audition.

I thought it was "Bose, got no lows".
Anyways, its a pretty flippant remark I see in forums often.
Hop on over to AVForums and tell them you are going to buy Bose and they will treat you like you are retarded.

One day, it would be nice to hear from someone who has owned or at least demoed Altec Lansing and the Bose side by side and let us know the pros and/or cons of the Bose, as I am sure its not totally awful.

Just a shame the B&W blimp thing is 400 quid, if it were 200 quid,I'd buy that in an instant :)
#16
Hot from me. Paid £180 recently to buy one for brother-in-law. That was cheapest I could find at the time, comet with a 10% voucher plus quidco - so this is def hot - and they sound great
#17
Does it connect to an ipod classic without an adapter?

Adapters are included in the box for most iPods and it will connect a Classic; either 80GB or 160GB versions. I had to buy an additional one to allow the SoundDock to play an iPod Shuffle though.

Good sounding system, but a warning for you - this won't charge the iPhone 3G.

Basically, Apple have removed the 12v firewire charging ability and this may possibly filter through to the next generation of iPods due out in the next couple of weeks.

Great deal otherwise, heat added.

Thats ridiculous! Any one who buys that cable needs their head examining!!

The thing I've always heard about Bose is that they are basically overpriced marketing and don't accurately reproduce the sound they should for the price.

However, if you believe the marketing or can't/don't hear how they alter the sound quality then I'm sure they're fine.

The conditions Winchy mentioned he uses his system for are pretty impossible to distinguish much quality, beyond obvious things such as how loud it will go without causing distortion.

Personally, I don't spend much on sound systems anyway so I'm sure whatever I use would appal audio enthusiasts.

I have just for something about the new soundDock, Looks to have a slight cosmetic change and it will work with the Iphone. Other than that it is about the same.

Yes - I have to agree. Ipod's are for music on the move, not for listening to at home. If funds are very tight this would be better than nothing but if , for example, you paid more than £700 for your last tv, then I would be amazed if you thought this was good enough for your music.
Decent audio starts at about a grand. Less if you go to Richer Sounds.
To the OP - For someone looking for this specific product - yes this is a Hot deal.

This Bose, while having good sound quality, is still very much overpriced compared to other iPod speakers for the same price. With Bose you're paying for their marketing, they are very much a second rate brand IMO.

Having never owned a Bose product I can't comment but just wondering what this is based on? Do you have experience with the company/products?

Decent audio doesn't necessarily have to start at a grand. I have a sony CD player (nothing flash although it was when i bought it 10 years ago for about £70, gale speakers same price same age and a cambridge audio amp - similar price. I would defy anyone but the most critical audiophile to tell me that the sound I get isn't anything short of superb.
#33
Good price but even cheaper at Comet at £126.65. http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/233237/bose-ipod-sounddock-speaker-system-/

The B&W Zeppelin looks fantastic, and sounds great too, apparently.

Yeah, it's not to say the Bose is bad for everyone. For some people it'll fit their requirements perfectly.

You can get something for a couple of hundred if you watch eBay for some bargains. The setup I find is just as important as the equipment itself. I'm lucky enough to have a large room to get a nice stereo image.

And the the Bose kit that is returned is refurbished and resold through the Bose Store at Freeport, Braintree - normally at quite a high reduction ;-)

They can afford a big reduction, because their kit is so wildly overpriced to start with.
