£199 for Black, £204 for white. Usually £250 everywhere.

Voted hot - I have the white one and the sound quality is excellent.
#2
hmm, better get one of these, half the price and better quality

Otherwise the iM7s, better still

How are any of these stations going to 'Dock' with the new gen iPods????
#4
I've read that Apple are subtly dropping the Apple Hi-fi box that they produced, so in the not too distant future there could be bargains to be had from that discontinued product.
#5
I have owned one of these for nearly two years now and its excellent.

The sound it produces for its size is extremley good.

I know a few people have reported that the iPhone works in the Bose system so I should imagine all the new ipods will.

The soundock does sound amazing -got to play with one in the US (where it was $249). Such a shame the UK market pays over the top compares to everywhere else.

I agree the sound quality from these is amazing, I bought mine from the Apple shop in New York a couple of years ago, cost $299 but well worth it.

Just incase anyone jumps in

Like all the other reviews state, this is definately as good as the Bose, enough said.

What I would add though is that the second generation nano does not fit into any of the holders because its socket is not central.

You can plug it in, but its not supported in any way.

John Lewis has had the sounddock at this price for the last couple of weeks and so possibility of Quidco and a voucher. I phoned John Lewis as I want one but am waiting on a new Capital One credit card that will give me cashback at 4% for 3 months. They said it was a long term price drop.

if you read further down you have to ask the manufacturer to send you the cradle adapter for the nano 2nd edition. and they will...

the new ipods use the same dock adapter as the old ones, and all come with the little plastic adapter so all these docks will work with them.

£169 now but no stock!

A friend has this Bose and I have to agree the sound quality is surprisingly good.

There may be quite a few bargains if the dock connectors are different on the new range.

You'd have a far better sounding system if you walked into Richer Sounds with £200.
http://www.richersounds.co.uk/information.php?cda=static&cst=hifisystems (3rd one down)

Or pick your own bits:
Ipod dock £20 http://www.richersounds.co.uk/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=KENS-33350-DOCK
Amp 1 £100 http://www.richersounds.co.uk/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=CAMB-A1V3-BLK
or Amp 2 £120
http://www.richersounds.co.uk/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=CAMB-A5-SIL

and a set of proper speakers £50 http://www.richersounds.co.uk/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=GALE-3010S-BCH

Buy a copy of what hifi and there's usually money off vouchers in the back too.

Or just get a nice cheaper XtremeMac Luna Alarm Clock Audio System for £69.99 from Play with Quidco hehe. The sound quality of the unit is excellent

course you would, but it's a different type of product. Some people want 'lifestyle' products, not separates. As I pointed out above, there are several ipod docks (same type of product) that are cheaper than this that are better.

they are the same!!! and the ipods coem witht he little tray to make it fit properly.

any idea whether any other mps players will fit (ie the sansa E270) for example.

i am looking at the cheaper one

Not too bad a price given how expensive Bose can be.

Personally I'd never buy a Bose product. The sound dock does provide a nice all-in-one lifestyle solution, but as mentioned before I'd either buy a different dock, or pick something up at Richer Sounds. I find there products to be overpriced and not provide the best sound quality (nor functionality) for your money.

BOSE = Buy Other Sound Equipment, Better Off Somewhere Else etc...
:)

i have this and a pair of their tri port headphones and the build quality and sound quality is far better than anything ive tested. When i changed ipods i rang up bose and they sent through a new adapter for this and all the new gen ipods so customer service is also pretty good.

Bose is over priced Brand. If you want something hell lot better than Bose for that price then go for George system from Chestnut Hill Sound.

This piece of kit does look impressive, but when I priced it up on the website the price was $499 (dollars)...... when you click on buy the price changes to £499 (pounds) ! ! ! Has something happened to the exchange rate I'm not aware of.....??? I know Bose and Apple charge us Brits a higher price than they sell for in the U.S. , but not double ! ! ! Or am I doing something wrong ?

I wouldn't think you're doing anything wrong, I buy a lot of gadgets and am horried at what I pay here compared to what I'd have paid if I were the US! It is amazing how almost every company (I've actually never seen an exception) does this and gets away with it!!!

This is another model that uses the same basic tech as many of the docking clock radios out there, like the iHome and the Argos Acoustic Solutions deal from last Christmas. They all share the same functionality bar a few tweaks here and there. I've got the Argos one, and I would imagine that they all sound pretty good.

Google for Bose. They're notorious for selling low end stuff at ripoff prices. They get away with it because of a massive marketing budget rather than quality products.

Do you own one though?

Yes this is quite expensive, but it gets consistantly good reviews for the most part and is a quality piece of kit.
#31
Bose have dropped the price for the SoundDock. You can get it direct from them (black or white ) for £199 delivered.
#32
Bose is pure design over content. You mention "Bose" to any half decent audiophile and the gag reflex will kick in. I made the mistake of buying one of their "Acoustimass" products when I was young and naive (and didn't demo) . Needless to say I demo every bit of kit I buy now.

Do yourself a favour and have a look at something like the Aego from Acoustic Energy. Sounds a million times better than this Bose stuff and costs about half the price!

Cheers

Dave
