Hollands Golden Age of brewing dates back almost 400 years, when Peter Cuyper first brewed Grolsch. He used a unique paining of two different hops that gave the beer its distinctive, authentic taste. We apply these same principles today. ALC. 5% VOL.

450ml Bottle

Saw this yesterday - £1.99 seems a bit over the top when the offer finishes, but £1 a bottle is pretty good.

These bottles are ideal for home brew beer. Bargain even if you don't like the content

 Only made homebrew the once, which was about 10 years ago, but remember thinking that about these bottles at the time.

Not a cheap deal though as you're paying for the fancy bottle more than anything else.

nice, not one in my area tho :(

If this is a great deal by Morrisons,it will be the first.

Not really worth getting just for the homebrewing aspect imo - you'd need about 50 to bottle a 40-pint kit and (after allowing for a bit of yeasty dregs) you'd end up with about 3/4 pint in your glass from each. Also they're green glass which isn't too good for beer storage (as it passes more UV light than brown glass). Better to spend £25 on a decent crown-capping tool and use ordinary beer bottles. Of course if you like both Grolsch and homebrewing, then the bottles are a nice freebie....

I remember when Bross fans stuck these bottle tops on their shoes........never really understood that one

Not that cheap as far as the beer goes - works out at £2.22 a litre. They're not seriously going to try and flog these at £1.99 anytime soon, are they? that would be about the most expensive 5% beer on the market at £4.42 a litre!

An offer only if you want the bottle, but Grolsch is cheaper in multipacks, probably even a Morrison's.

ANything over £2 a litre for a 5% lager isnt that good. Absolutely nobody would pay £1.99 for a 450ml bottle of beer at asupermarket.. it;s cheaper in Wetherspoons!

Nobody has asked the most important question yet.
Are the contents of these swing tops brewed here or in Holland?
When first imported in the early Eighties, they were brewed and bottled in Holland.
I used to sell them in my Offy in Battersea back then and loved the stuff.
When its popularity increased, sadly they decided to brew here and also package in cans and smaller crown cap bottles.

I always preferred the taste of Grolsch out of these bottles so maybe the stuff I used to drink was actually brewed abroad compared to the crap thats on sale now...

Talking of crap - that pretty much sums up Morrisons in Milton Keynes who dont stock this offer - typical...
