Just saw this in my local...

Woodford Reserve 70cl - £20
Gentleman Jack 70cl - £20
Makers' Mark 70cl - £19.99
2 x 70cl Jack Daniels - £25

Cracking deals, online as well it seems.

(Oh yes, and I know JD isn't bourbon really)

Woodford your saving £4 or so
Gentleman Jack your saving £10
Makers Mark is the same price as usual
Might have to top up on the Gentleman Jack at this price though
#3
Technically Jack Daniels is a tennesse whiskey rather than a bourbon (_;)
#4
I find Woodford is around the £27 mark (it was actually Tesco/Waitrose has it around that price last time I checked) :) By far the nicest ;)
#5

Where did you get the silver select?
I though it was only available through duty free?
Costs me around £35 for a bottle each time I travel (which is pretty often these days) oO

Thumbs up for Woodford Reserve though. It's a fine quality REAL bourbon that I'm also rather partial to.

I did a blind taste test of the JD Silver Select against the Woodford last year - Woodford is good, but not as smooth as the JD Silver Select....

the gentlemans jack is a cracker although i do prefer the single barrel
#10
WOW!!! I love Jack Daniels !
#11
getting me some of that JD tomorrow!
#12
I have a bottle of GJ in the house and picked up the Woodfords today. I've never tried the Woodfords before so I'm glad to see it gets good reviews.
#13
i've gotta say that Makers Mark is easily the best stuff. i was lucky enough to have a night in a posh hotel a few months ago and the couple of 'maker's mark' drinkies I had made it really special.
#14
I am a JD lover but whenever possible I would go for the makers mark....love the stuff!
#15
thanks for the info

wasnt a fan of the makers, woodford is pretty good and I'll have to buy a gentleman to give that a go. Expnsive month what with the 2 for £22 on russian standard as well!
#20
Have to say this is an awesome deal.
Shame you can't get Jack Single Barrell at this price. Unbelievably smooth!
Does anyone have an idea (and/or view) of the difference between Gentleman's Jack and Single Barrell?
#21
I love this one! Thanks for the awesome deal!
#22
Are you guys drinking Woodford Reserve with coke or straight on the rocks?

Makers Mark last week was £25 (£24.99) - was in Tesco last night and got myself a couple of bottles. It was only at this price (£19.99) when it first went into Tesco - which I think was only a couple of months ago.

Makers Mark is a excellent drink!

I have it with the same amount of coke & a couple of ice cubes, more 'refreshing' that way I think :)
#25
Bought 2x JD no.7 for a special occasion end of the month, cheers man! :D
#26
Tesco on the way home now then for some Woodford! Cheers OP
#27
great price for woodfords, especially when you see where its made and the history behind it. i watched it on stephen fry tour of usa and the building is small and very old, way back before prohibition,

dh loves the stuff
#28
Thanks for this, I will be popping out later for some Gentleman Jack (last bottle didnt last long though).

Straight, no ice.

But it's up to your personal preference.

Same here, some add water to the whiskey too.

John Wayne frowns on those who add coke...

GJ is twice filtered where at JD is single filtered. Single Barrel is when they only make that bottle from a single barrel made (i.e. not mixed with other brews). It is also made slightly differently and each one tastes slightly different.

I cant see Woodford Reserve on Tesco's website, am I being blind or is it just not there? HOT offer by the way.

Only got into bourbon recently after getting a bottle of Makers on the way back from holiday & even more so visiting the Blues Bar in Camden!

So couldn't resist grabbing a Woodford on the way home. Lovely stuff 8)

ASDA used to sell Woodford for £25, then all stores seemed to stop selling it until recently (well, in the ones I treid anyway) £21.98 is still a good price.

Much better than Maker's Mark IMO, I really don't get the fuss about that. Single Barrel is lovely but far too overpriced & (again) I think it's not as nice as Woodford.

It's just occurred to me that whilst drinking a double of single barrel over rocks, this essentially what happens when you leave you bourbon too long and come back to some chilled and watery bourbon. I wonder if my brain functions sometimes.

Still lovely though!
