My son "needed" a bow-tie to go with his new sonic screwdriver. £1.00 including postage seemed a bit of a deal!

OK, here's the real one. It looks ridiculous on this bloke but I'm hoping it'll look better on a 7 year old.

Wonder if Andy Wedge has got one?

Now where did I leave my long scarf and floppy hat...?

That new doctor gets on my diddies with his stupid bow tie! He's such a loser doc, nothing sexy about him whatsoever, unlike David Tennant who was sex on legs as the doc!!!

I can't recall seeing a more odd individual than the guy who plays the new Dr Who, and that's before he starts the acting bit.

Better get it now as in 8 years time ASOS goes bust
(Thought I could get it cheaper but as stores are all gone came back to today to get one)

You haven't looked at the pic of the guy from the ASOS website have you?

Odder than John Pertwee or even Tom Baker (he was weird)?

I didn't like the new Doc in the first couple of episodes 'cos he didn't seem to be much of an actor but he's certainly growing on me (and more importantly he's already my 7 year old son's favourite Doctor - that Tenant bloke is sooo last year!).

Stop ignoring the elephant in the room - we're all disturbed by his haircut.
There, I've said it.

What's wrong with his hair? Nothing wrong with long-ish hair as a guy...

Juts hit a charity shop for all your bow tie needs.

Yawn, silly Tennant fans dismissing Matt Smith's acting skills and credability as the Doc...and basing everything on attractiveness.

Smith has out acted Tennant already in his few episodes since taking the role, without doubt.

He's got a long way to go to be everybodies favourite/never will be due to some people loving Tennant for Tennant, rather than his acting ability.

I am not sure what will I get for £1 delivered.

thank you :)

At least the show will lose all the 'fans' that only love Tennant and we're better off without them if they're going to blindly criticise Matt's fantastic quirky version of The Doctor just because (in some people's opinion) he's not a 'pretty boy'.Sad.:whistling:

To be fair the new writer(s) are taking some getting used to. Granted there are some continuing story lines & ideas by the same script writers in the last series, but if you have to change something in a successful franchise (that is made or broken by public support) it does not make sense to change more than one aspect simultaneously.

My kids stated last week that they thought the episode was "rubbish", & they have never said that about any of those they have seen (all from when Christopher Eccleston took over).

My "youngest" has even watched the two "Dalek" movies with Peter Cushing as the lead character & enjoyed those; hopefully the next instalment this Saturday will be a return to 'norm' (if there is such a thing in a "Doctor Who" story).

Interesting because last weeks (the one with the Dreamlord) had my kids on the edge of their seats. There are certainly faults with the new series (that shiny new Tardis exterior just annoys me!) but Stephen Moffat understands what's scary - he might get my kids behind the sofa yet! Hopefully there'll be no more:
"which animal's head should we put on an extra and pretend it's an alien this week?"
"Cat?"
"Done that"
"Fish?"
"dunnit"
"Rhino?"
"Been there"
"Hedgehog?"
"Great Idea, I'll get costume onto it immediately"

Didn't the thing sat on David Tennant's head resemble a hedgehog on occasion? ;)

I wanted to dislike the new Doctor but I actually quite like him.
I would wear a bow tie if I had anything to go with it

Not sure why you've quoted my post there?

But i'm loving this series. By far my favourite!
Love both the Doctor and the Companion for the first time since Rose, and the stories are brilliant. Not one i've not liked yet which is shockingly good!

Does your comment about Rose mean you did like Christopher Eccleston, or not?

I haven't disliked any of the Doctors.

I'd order them like this though:

1. Matt Smith
2. David Tennant
3. Christopher Eccleston

Is that because of their chronological appearance on-screen (and, hence, are the most recent in your memory)?

I do not think we (OK, I) have seen enough of Matt Smith's acting ability to compare with some of the scenes/stories of the other two actors to play The Doctor.

The moment that Rose was separated from The Doctor (David Tennant) & could not return to the same dimension, for example. Then the following story line when Rose made the decision to stay with "her" version of The Doctor forever. Not restricted to, but certainly within the episode when Christopher Eccleston met the Dalek that had been captured by the alien artefact collector, had some very moving scenes where The Doctor came to terms with what he had done to another race & how he was now alone (or he thought he was). In fact, when The Doctor was holding the The Master (whilst he was "dying") showed Tennant's ability to act too.

Matt Smith has not had material like this to work with (yet), so I do not think I am at a stage where I can say which of the three I prefer.

[EDIT]: PS. How was this week's story for everybody? (Without adding any spoilers for those who may not have seen it yet).

I guess I can't put them in order quite yet. But by now Both DT and CE had done things to put me off them. Matt Smith is doing everything just right for me so far.

I wouldn't go with chronological appearance, as it's not the same with the companions.

1. Rose
(Amy?)
2. Martha
