Seems like a good deal to me. Comes with 2 year warranty, and free UK delivery. Might make up for a few of the cold deals I have posted recently! :) xx Read More

Looking at the reviews for this speaker, it looks like they can be used as part of a Home Cinema set up, along with the AS-1 subwoofer. They've been around for quite a while too, which may mean that they are no longer manufactured. B&W usually means quality so not a bad price. Not sure about the quoted RRP though! :{

These things are ancient. No idea how they have new stock.

They're at least 13 years old. Here's a review from 2003 http://hometheaterreview.com/bw-vm1-speakers-and-as1-subwoofer-reviewed/

Can this be used as centre speaker? Can I lay it horizontally not standing as it is now?

Agreed and Betty Boothroyd was about the best.

We have these in our surround sound setup and they are great quality and partner nicely with our amp. Had them a long time now, never a blip, never anything except unobtrusively excellent so can't comment on customer service - never needed it! They can be put upright or horizontal so can be used as centre speaker.

No, these are not active speakers, i.e. they are not powered. They need amplified signal from amplifier or AV receiver. TV won't be able to power these AFAIK.
