Eight-year old Bruno is an innocent, sheltered, young boy who knows nothing of the Holocaust and the cruelties that his county are inflicting upon the people of Europe. Bruno lives a very comfortable lifestyle in pre-war Germany, but has no real friends, however this changes when his family move home so his father can take a new position as the commandeer in a prison camp. Bruno meets another young boy called Shmuel, who dresses strangely in stripped pyjamas and lives on the other side of an electrified fence. The two boys become friends and Bruno soon has his eyes opened to the devastating reality that the yard next to his is actually a prison camp for Jews awaiting execution.

Directed by British filmmaker, Mark Hermon and staring Vera Farmiga and David Thewlis, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is an emotional tale of friendship, which will tug at your heart strings - one not to be missed!

Don't think I've ever seen a more sad and emotional film and the end is a real shock first time round. Everyone should watch this film as its a modern day classic. I can't believe how good those two child actors are.

It's also £7.99 in Sainsbury's

Another one of those holocaust "feel good" movie's like Life is Beautiful that try's to hit home but just trivialises the subject. The fact that the friendship is fictitious leaves you wondering if this film is just manipulising the viewer. Still, Its 50p cheaper than anywhere else online
