I've been waitinng for weeks for this deal to come up.
I've had the inferior brands and have been holding out for a Brabantia deal.

Odd question maybe, but how heavy is the lid as we have a very 'inquisitive' beagle who keeps knocking the lid of our current plastic bin?

Thanks

liam news - it depends how strong your dog is but they are a bit heavier than plastic bin lids - you might be better off with a pedal bin, then he can't knock it off lol!
#6
Thanks for this.

Been meaning to replace our cheapo debenhams pedal(less) bin - bought the metallic grey 50L for £40 and treated 'er indoors to some of them posh bin bags to match.

It is not overly heavy but it comes down further than other bins and locks against handle grips so no so easy to knock off although he could get in it if he puts his feet on the lid and then gets off as it has a clip lid.
How sad that i love my bin! By the way get the proper barbantia bags, they never split and dont show & seem to take a lot more stuff (i get through 3 a week as opposed to about 5 before.)

Unfortunately I think he is SAS trained, so I'll probably go for a pedal bin instead!

Contact them via the online form (customer service, contact amazon) and ask for a refund for the difference, they have a 30 day price protection thing so no probs getting a refund and no hassle :).

I had the same problm with argos bins, they used to rip the bin liner when you pulled it out aswell because of poor design. You have a 10 year gaurantee for this one and it lasts fforever & i have never had a problem with the lid and my kids often keep banging it to open it continuously for fun.
#27
I can second what's been said about customer service at Brabantia. if you're umming and arring cos you're worried about it being dear and not being good quality, don't hesitate.

We've had one years, the catch went and they replaced the entire lid, twice. No problems at all with new style catch/lid. They are red hot with their service, no questions asked at all. Have a sneaky feeling they have a lifetime guarantee, judging by the recent ads, etc.

Worth the extra dosh, a fab bin! (Yes, I'm a saddo too...dh bought me one for my birthday years ago, lol!)

Ah, is it 10 year? I can also second it beng toddler proof. Mine love the fact that they just have to smack it and it pops open. So they do it 50 times a day minimum.

The only drawback is that it's a big bin to wade through when dd1 (18months) has put her new shoes in the bottom of it. :x

Thanks eveyone ordered.............................

I have been looking at these bins for quite sometime now but havent bought one as I have never liked the price tag that came with them. However I do agree that this is a really good price but what I was hoping is that someone who already ones one of these bins could tell me what make's them so special after all it is just a bin that we throw rubbish in. I do really want to buy one but apart from looking good what else makes them so special?

Did amazon stop price protection on 1st September 2008 as I cannot find details on their website?

Great bin and worth the extra for the quality. My parents went for a cheaper copy and soon regretted it. Must be 6-7 years we've had ours, still works perfect.

Hot deal

Odd... the "go to deal" link doesn't seem to be working. I can find the bin on the amazon site, but for £45 instead of £40.

Edit - Found the brushed steel rather than the brilliant steel, found both now!

I've replaced the link, don't know how that happened?

Interested in this bin but wondered if you have to used the Brabantia liners or will standard swing bin liners be OK?

Thanks

We use standard black dustbin ones and they're fine  Swing ones are a little small. It's quite a big dude.

You can open it with your elbow when your hands are gunked up, it's not difficult to clean and cronky like a lot of pedal bins, it's got a brilliant guarantee and just tucks away and quietly does it's job.

I think they're fab.

Looks that way!!!

Having had a look round i found this:
Protection period: Amazon UK discontinued it's Post Order Price Guarantee effective September 1st, 2008.
To request a refund: Amazon cancelled their Post Order Price Guatantee Sept 1, 2008. You can still collect refunds on orders placed before that date by contacting their customer service department at +44.208.636.9200 or 0800 279 6620.

Which would also explain the comments in my last refund from the 3/10:

"The discounts we offer for items on our website often vary. I've checked your order {REMOVED} and found that we offer a greater discount on "Thomson VS680U - Wireless TV Video Sender - Watch & Control Sat TV Around The House" than when you placed your order.
I recognise you have a choice of retailers and appreciate that you prefer to order from us. Please note that we do not extend a post-order price guarantee."

You can buy store own brand liners for a fraction of the cost of Brabantia ones. Asda do them for £1.99 for 20 and they fit perfectly (i pick up this bin the last time it was on offer and very pleased with it).
