I beg to differ, they're comfortable to use, and actually offer a hard plastic surface for the laptop to sit on, meaning airflow is just as good as if it were sat on a table. Heat added

Does the Belkin one have a hard top?

From a Play reviewer and their opinion on the Belkin cushtop:

"This would be a useful item for laptop users but there are two significant problems: first the seam blocks the optical drive from opening and closing properly and more seriously the "feet" on the laptop sink into the cushtop and thus blocking the air vents underneath causing my laptop to heat up much more than if I use my laptop on a hard flat surface such as a table. I've stopped using mine"

I think that's a no

i am using the ikea one as i am typing this. Good value for money and not as heavy as the other cushion available which I think is good as it does not add extra weight on the lap which can get kind of tired when using for a long time.

Voted cold. Bought one of these two years ago and they were £9.99 then. In addition to that they are rubbish. The poppers come off easily never able to be popped back on again - also once they are dirty, they are dirty. I wasn't aware that the material part could be washed as it's full of "bean". I was using mine yesterday - well trying to - with a mini mouse and it's near impossible.
I wouldn't risk buying this - you will regret it!

my laptop has never got hot on this and raises the laptop up to an ideal height to type and is comfortable whereas the ikea digs into your legs :|

OK deal but this is standard price all the time. just typing this using Belkin Cushtop which is very comfy on lap my laptop (Dell Vostro) never overheats using this. Also re the DVD drive being blocked by the seam? You just shift the laptop to left in my case and it opens ok. ~Overall Belkin is better was £9.99 delivered from play
